My moto e5 randomly shut off and will not turn on.

I know it's not dead because just a few minutes before I saw the battery was at 71%. I've tried plugging it in and changing outlets. I tried holding down the power butting for 30 secs and holding down the power and lower volume button for over 120 secs. After multiple tries it still doesn't work. I'm not sure whether or not it was refurbished because it was given to me, but it's not like a friend gave me an old used phone, it was bought. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but it happened about a minute after I plugged in the AUX cord. I doubt that's the problem because I've used it multiple times before with no problems.

Welcome to Android Central! It's possible the battery is defective. Is the phone still under warranty?
