My Nexus 5 was stolen by UPS

I did reorder a white 32gb yesterday evening after reporting the theft to Google. Have not received a shipping notice and the Play store order status still shows it will leave the warehouse on 11/22/13. It just kills me that I should have it in my hands right now but some low-life took it.

I ordered mine yesterday in the morning and got the shipping email about an hour ago. Hopefully you will get an email soon, maybe early in the morning. I use UPS My choice and haven't heard anything from them so, they probably just created a shipping label. I hope you get your phone soon.

Wow this is so sad OP. Now did you pay with a credit card? If you did so, you can also open an investigation/dispute and the credit card company will cover the price and out an immediate refund for you. At least this has happened to me using my beloved capital one MasterCard.

I have had to do this before when I had a Satellite radio I ordered on Amazon stolen by UPS. Both Amazon and my credit card company were awesome in taking care of the refund issues.

Don't be so quick to assume the driver did anything. Do you realize how many hands touch that package during its transit? As a former UPSer, I can tell you that the LP department typically found the vast majority of internal theft coming from the college students responsible for sorting at the hubs or loading the package cars (what UPS calls the brown trucks) at the distribution centers. And, of course, there is no way to substantiate that the theft happened by UPS or if you are faking it (not accusing you of theft, but to law enforcement, there is no proof if UPS or you did that to the package).

As others have said earlier, Google is doing what they need to do and UPS will ultimately wind up paying for it regardless of actual proof of internal or external theft. Either way, you'll eventually get taken care of in the end.

wow major bummer. I am glad that Google was able to disable the phone so they get a nice paperweight and the OP will get another Nexus 5.

What matters at this point is that the OP gets his new Nexus5.

An anecdote from my life selling at eBay, I sold a used cannon elph 310 8xMP shooter some three years ago for like $250 or something like that....story short, the buyer told me that he never got it (either the FedEx guy/shipping loading college students or he faked it I mean who knows I'll never know), but the delivery via fedex showed that the package was delivered. Guess what, he put a dispute via eBay/Paypal and I was forced to refund him every single penny via PayPal. I did not put insurance on the package (a life experience), I lost the money and the camera. This sorts of things happen and I'm sorry to hear it happened to the OP.

This is why I hate UPS. I have the same issue with them just leaving my packages on the door step. They don't even knock! I can't stand that. I never get these problems when it's FedEx. I even pay more on some sites to choose FedEx over UPS. Hell USPS is better than UPS. I can't understand why a major company like Google would use crappy UPS. I'm sure they could get just as good a contact with FedEx.

I payd for the 2 day shipping on my Nexus 5, this time the UPS guy had to get a signature for it. I don't know if that made the difference. But all other times, just dump it on the door step and not even knock.

Sorry to hear you have to go threw that. I hope you complain to the head UPS office about it and not just Google. Where was this, what state/city? So others can be aware in case they have to deal with the same UPS bastards you had.

went you supposed to sign it off that u recieved the phone when the delivery guy dropped it off at your place

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but on Google+ some head UPS guy has left a comment to contact him and report to him the details of your shipment along with tracking number and stuff. He says he has a great team to address your concerns. Might be worth a shot.

Sorry to hear this. I ordered a white 32gb nexus 5 on 11/6 and received it 11/8. I picked 2 day shipping. Hope it works out for you.

Man that sucks! Nothing like being all excited for your new precious and then opening the box to find it missing. Hope everything works out for you.

I certainly would not indict UPS entirely. They have a lot of good folks working hard and honestly. I get a lot, I mean a lot of packages and UPS delivers most of them and does a great job over all from my perspective.

Where would I find that post from the UPS guy? I have made a report to Google and also filed a Damage claim online with UPS.

OP - what phone are you planning on using in the meantime?

He said he had already sold his old phone and to not let down the but as negative seller he has most likely already shipped the old phone to the buyer.

For several years now UPS has employed a practice called "Driver Release" where the driver may choose to leave the package for you. I have had drivers leave packages in plain view on my busy street, and I've also had drivers leave them in a hidden location, and then put a note on my front door hinting as to where they are. And I've had a few drivers simply leave a note saying they will attempt to deliver it the next day.

I'm actually surprised that Google doesn't use Adult Signature Required, as some other places do.
