thanks but i meant simply, easily, and officially by a flip of a switch in settings. i heard that Google was considering adding that ability.
Not yet. If they choose to implement it, I'm sure it'll be pretty prominent news. I doubt that that would be a feature that could simply be enabled/disabled quickly by the flip of the switch, as I imagine it would require (at least for purposes of encrypting) rewriting every file.
It is disappointing, though, that it was never a toggled feature. Even if in initial setup it was just a screen saying "Do you wish to maximize the security of your device" and a checkbox toggled 'yes' by default, with the (if necessary) caveat that changing your mind later would require a hard resetting of the device.
