My Only Hesitation is Battery Life

Not sure what they can physically change in the phone before final production runs but I would think software optimization would be the biggest change that could be made. Just that could have an effect on results.

Yip. Just look at the recent update to the N7 replacements before the second recall hit. That software update apparently really improved battery life, and who knows if the same could be true for the V20 or other phones.

Wireless charging is one option.
For me, either I am at my office or driving.
I have 3 wireless chargers, at home, at the office & in my car. With my actual phone (a 3 year old Note 2), I always dock it on one of these chargers & I am never short of juice.
We can always fit a wireless receiver to the USB port of the V20.

I think fast charging and removable battery negates the need for wireless charging, unless you just have to have it. The problem with the wireless receiver is that it stays plugged into the port and I use my port too often in my car to connect to Android auto and such that wireless charging would not be that beneficial.

If the LG V20 can have a removable wireless changing back like the LG V10, then your USB port will be free.
Don't know if this is the case.

I think Mugen made an extended battery for v10 that came with a kickstand back which I love. Did anyone try it?

Neither of those negate wireless charging. When you plop your phone on a wireless charger on your desk, you're not doing so to fully charge your phone. You're giving yourself a trickle charge throughout the day so that you don't need to plug it into a fast charger or so that you don't have to swap your battery as often.

I haven't used it since I don't own the phone, but I did have it for the G3. The G3 version was terrible. Slick plastic that made holding the phone a hazard and the kickstand couldn't support the weight of the device with the bigger battery. It was very unsteady. I saw the version for the V10, though, and it seems like it's way, way better.

Doze helps some, but already a feature of Marshmallow. It works great, but app settings in the background can compromise it. The most weight though are the display, GPU and LTE. Especially LTE in weak signal areas.

Sleep mode is down far on the list unless many apps are allowed notifications in background. Especially Facebook and other known battery drainers.

Key is ones own use. If you are happy, that is all that matters IMO. :)

I mean the battery. I don't care if back cheap. Does battery last?

Yes I know Doze is in MM but it activates after 30 minutes of inactivity.. Which Nougat I believe it activates as soon as the screen is off.. right?

This is my approach to battery life, trying to keep it fun:
I will carry two of my phones with me in my bag. A primary flagship-level device and a tertiary device (like this here Moto G4+).

So, worst case scenario, I can charge my primary, if need be, or change to the tertiary device.

...at least that's my plan. We'll see how it goes.

When my V20 shows up in the next couple of weeks, if the battery life is worse than my Note 5 and gets to 20% before I want it to I'll fire up the G4+. Could be fun...or a hassle. Again, we'll see.

OP, I would wait until well after the phone releases and then read reviews online and watch unboxing videos on YouTube (look out for Android Authority as well as Android Central) to see how they compare the battery life of the V20 to its predecessor and perhaps to other devices.

There are a lot of unboxing and review videos out there now. Some very long and detailed.

Not sure but think regardless of that, any app with notifications on can run at will in the background. Facebook being enemy number one.

Or better, yet wait until real owners start posting real battery life results in the V20 forums. This phone will not compete with the moto z play battery-wize, but no one expects it to. Realistically, if it makes it through an entire day of normal usage, its a win.
