My own drop test

Was at a counter at Staples store and managex to drop my phone. I heard it smack the tile floor pretty hard, face down. Picked it up and took out of the case - zero damage

Got all the way to the car and heard the phone make a funny notification sound. Here the S Pen had dislodged during the fall. So I ran back into the store like a crazy person. That fully the S Pen was sitting there on the tile by the counter. All is good. I've got to remember to check for that s pen any time it happens to fall or even just when moving it around. Rather be too careful then lose it.

The case that I had on it earlier when this happened was my :

Thin case but proven durable a few times. Wearing the Defender again now.

FYI there are articles of people saying that the note8 defender is causing their screens to crack because of the inner hard plastic up against the glass when it falls.

Every single drop is different and there are a lot of factors. I highly doubt it's the Otterbox causing this based on it's construction.

If that was the case then all these other cases that have an inner shell like Unicorn Beetle, I-Blason Magna, Esamcore etc. would cause it to break.

Not to mention the Defender has had the same basic design since the beginning and has been on hundreds of thousands of phones

I've used defenders on a few phones. Never had an issue with any of them including Note 8. I think you'd have to really abuse your phone to make it break like that with a defender
