My phone screen is messed up. Is there possibly a slight chance that it is the motherboards fault?

I have a nexus 4 and when I turn on the screen, the screen is all mostly black (with cracks on it and on the crack, there are strange colors and stuff like that but mostly black) and I know the LCD is broken but is there a slight chance something else (like the motherboard) has a problem too?

Welcome to Android Central! Was the phone dropped recently? When you say "cracks," do you mean actual physical cracks in the glass, or thin lines of pixels on the screen?

If the phone was dropped, I'd suspect it's the screen only.

Well, I sure gives me a feel that soon you may need to head over to the nearest store to fix the LCD ! So, for now I would say as this thing is working so keep using it and in the mean time start saving few bucks to get the digitiser replaced.
