My photos have disappeared Huawei Honor 9

[Android Central Question]

All of my photos and videos since last April have disappeared from my phone and I can't see them from my computer either.

If I take any new photographs they show up fine. And the missing photos haven't moved to the recently deleted folder or anything. I haven't installed anything new or done anything different that could possibly have affected this.

Can anyone please give advice? I can't seem to find much online and I don't know if it's specific to Huawei or not.

Were they saved to internal memory or SD Card? If the latter, the card might have been damaged/corrupted (not at all uncommon). Did you upload these to a cloud service (like Photos) and maybe ran the 'Clean up space' feature? If so, those should still be backed up to the cloud, just removed from your device.
