And it's annoying because I am using my data when I have my home wifi available. Has this happened to anyone else? It's not my router because it's not happening on any other devices in the house.

What kind of Wi-Fi signal are you getting when it IS connected? All 5 bars in the Wi-Fi icon?
Are you connecting to N? Is your router configured for N only or mixed?
