My s8 doesn't and never has shown me recipients when I receive a group text message.

And recently since I assume an update, when I open my text messaging I have to back out of a screen that says "new see when friend are typing. This is annoying. In trying to change settings, all directions say toopen text message app/then open settings, then click chat settings, then more settings, then apparently I should see text messages at the top and here is where the problem is the top category I have is multimedia messages. Anyone?
