My samsung galaxy s6 Edge won't notify me when i get a text message, please help??

Hey,

For the last 48 hours my phone hasn't been notifying me once i get a message, this means no message tone or pop up even though the settings are set correctly.
I have checked to see if the sound was turned down which it was not.
I really need to fix this as text messages are a key part of my work.
Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated.

I would try to restart the phone. Also backup the messages and try to clear cache and app data on the messaging 5
