Well here is another "my take" on MY transformer. Why do I put empahsis and say MY? because everyones experience will be different.
So far I have had the transformer for about a work week. I have been using it as my primary work computer as an IT admin with good success. I didnt buy the tablet to replace a computer, rather to compliment the thinkpad I already have. So this week has been more of a test to see how well the tablet works and how far I can push it to fully determine if it is not only capable of replacing a computer in a pinch or if even just meets the needs I bought it for.
First Id like to cover some of the more common issues the transformer has:
Keyboard lag in browsers - Well this problem is definitely present in most browsers minus firefox. Firefox though has some other issues like double backspacing per press and flash issues (need to look into this more). Hopefully the stock browser will be fixed soon as I prefer it to the others.
Speakers uneven in sound - Well this isnt present in my transformer. Both speakers seem to play evenly and sound amazing. Maybe not enough sound to fill a room, but thats to be expected for speakers this size.
WIFI issues connecting - Mine works flawlessly.
As for any other issues I havent noticed any. Honestly the lag isnt as bad as I thought, but does need to be addressed asap! Makes surfing that much more painful at times when I am under a time crunch.
How well has it worked for IT tasks? Very well I must say. I can VNC or SSH to manage PCs and servers just as easily as I can on my thinkpad but with the small issue of resolution. Could I use this as my main IT tool? Yes, but I wouldnt do that unless I absolutely had too. Dont get me wrong I LOVE this tablet but not enough to forget my lovely thinkpad. Its great for those times where Im over loading my main rig and need to either offload some work or need to step away while the thinkpad is doing some tasks or the main reason I bought it for: to draw/spitball/brainstorm. In this facet it comliments my main rig very well. I must admit though Im sad I got the dock as I may be finding myself on the tablet more and setting the thinkpad for more unattended workhorse duties.
All in all Im glad that I made the purchase and would do so again. I would recommend this tablet to any IT professional to compliment their current mobile setup.
