My ThunderBolts Browser

I'd understand if it were ski boots which are also pieces of plastic that can range up to thousands of dollars but this is a phone case. Saying "cutting edge technology, materials engineering, and design teams" are employed on these is flat out criminal. They are pieces of plastic with materials that cost pennies per pound and maybe 3 guys paid $10 an hour in Asia spent a few days on it. Truly it takes no amount of effort or designing to make one of these things compared to just about anything else that you can buy. That's why they're accessories. There's nothing sweeter than sucker money.

I used Opera mini on my old blackberry storm but I'm perfectly happy with the stock right now. What are the benefits of the other browsers?

If we were speaking of the Moto stock or Samsung or straight Android stock browsers, my inclination would be to use Dolphin or Opera. But the HTC version of stock is a really good browser. It's smooth, scrolls well, pinch and zoom work flawlessly and it auto-reflows text to aid in reading the page.

I wind up flipping back and forth between HTC stock and Dolphin/Opera mobile.

I haven't had any issues with the stock browser, I am fond of Skyfire and use it the most.

In my search for the best browser, I put all of the top browsers through the Acid3 test. I tested Opera Mobile and Mini, Dophin HD and Mini, Firefox 4, HTC "Internet", Skyfire, Miren, and xScope. The only browser that passes the Acid3 test with 100/100 is Opera Mobile, although only when Mobile View is disabled in the settings (Note: Oddly, when mobile view is enabled, it performs worst on Acid3 among the tested browsers). Opera Mini scores 97/100 with Mobile View disabled. The other browsers muster a 93/100 at best.

The practical implication for me is that Opera Mobile is used as my alternate browser for rendering certain web pages not formatted for mobile. Ultimately, I just feel that the stock browser provides the most consistent and polished experience for the greatest number of situations--despite my hatred for its method of handling of windows. I do appreciate how the stock browser frees up more screen real estate by auto-hiding the status bar, requiring a simple Menu button press to unhide--something that Opera Mobile does not do (Opera Mobile can hide the status bar, but can't unhide it on the fly, to my knowledge) .

I have used Skyfire since it came out .....i like the dedicated icon to switch between desktop or mobile views and the tabs icon. long press on the return arrow prompts an exit dialog box with the option to erase session history on close.

I admit i've used dolphin some, and briefly opera, but didn't like it. I haven't tried any others since the skyfire admirably does the job.

Firefox is my main one, with opera mobile back up for flash content.

Dolphin and stock feels slow and nonresponsive to me. And I dont trust browser shells when I do money related online services, so no opera mini or skyfire to me.

I like Opera Mobile Version 11.00 because I find this browser can handle flash videos better than the stock browser. I also like Skyfire, again for the ability to play flash videos well. I also tried Firefox, but found this couldn't handle flash video well, if at all. Dolphin HD is pretty cool for its tab feature, but I still like Opera Mobile better for playing flash videos.
