My Trip to Best Buy

I'm back from Best Buy. The sales person said the phones are supposed to be in Friday. I told her about the preorder online issue and she said it has to be done in store. So she tried and couldn't do it. I'll be going down there Friday. What a screwed up mess.

I went to my local Best Buy this afternoon, and was very impressed with the phones.

They had two 6s and one Pro on display. Of the three phones only one 6 would even turn on. It was running the idiotic "demo" routine, which means you really can't do anything with the phone. (or if you can, I never figured out how)

They had the hideous anti-theft cable and attachment, in addition to the demo routine.

Nonetheless, I was greatly impressed, by the phones, and completely unimpressed by Best Buy. I thought he screen was gorgeous.

I have been using a Pixel 5 since last November, running Android 12 since the 19th, and we bought my wife a 5a in August, (I had a Pixel 2 before the 5) but the 6 is much classier than any of those phones.

There has been a great deal of hyperventilating over the size of the phones, and the "ugly and obtrusive" camera bar. I didn't feel that they were subjectively that large, and the camera bar was simply there.

Doesn't look like my pre-order from Best Buy is going to be ready anytime soon...no stock within 250 miles of my location. I got my pre-order for an unlocked black 128GB around 2PM Central on the 19th so I thought my chances of getting one yesterday would be pretty good...

I went to BB yesterday in hopes. It looks like next week depending on which phone. Thankfully I got shipping notice from Google Store this morning.
Good luck with Best Buy. I know how you feel.

My BB pre-order just continues to be listed as "in progress" and tells me I'll get an email when ready. No indication on when, so I went to the store yesterday and was told they hadn't even gotten their shipment of Pixels from Google and were not told when they might come in.

I wouldn't pre-order through Best Buy ever again. Every time I've tried it in the past, there's been a problem. They're fine for the most part if you walk in and get one if they have it in stock, but pre-ordering is such a pain with those people. They always say it's someone else's fault but then all the other companies seem to have the item and usually Best Buy suddenly, magically gets stock as soon as you cancel your pre-order and give up on them.

Probably would have looked elsewhere, but I had a sizable gift card there. But yeah, next time, I might avoid it for pre-orders.

I have never had any problems with any of my Samsung pre-orders there...I have done at least 5 or 6...this is the first time there has been an issue... :(

I haven't received a single update from Best Buy regarding my pre-order...still says the item is delayed. :(

I did the support chat yesterday and all I got was "you will get an email when it is ready for pickup"

Same thing for me with the seafoam 6. I have even called and all they've said is they have no updates...can't give me any idea when it will be available. Thing that's most annoying is I could go pick up the gray one at Best Buy right now, but of course would then lose the Pixel Buds promotion. Never going to do pre-order with them again.

This is why I canceled my Best buy order even though I got it in before my Google store purchase. I just didn't trust them. I went on today and I saw there was the cloudy white pixel 256 GB available but of course it had no delivery ETA

Not to sick up for BB, but I'm not sure the Google Store, or FedEx were any better in this Pixel release. Reading through these threads you can find evidence of less-than-acceptable behavior by all three.

In the future we may refer to the P6 launch as The Three Stooges Ride Again Launch.

Even now it is hard to get certain phone models with a concrete delivery date. I have a P6P white 128GB due here 12/11. As with babies, the due date don't hardly mean much at times.

I get what you're saying about others being bad as well, but the thing that frustrated me is there was nothing to indicate from Best Buys side when preordering that they did not have any stock or that phones were put on backorder.

In my situation, if I'd have known that there this was going to be the situation for the seafoam, I'd have happily order the black instead, which has been available.

And even more frustrating has been my customer service experience with them. Long story short (okay, not that short), all I was trying to do was get some kind of estimate of when it would be available. Talked to first customer service rep who could not tell me anything, so I asked for supervisor. Supervisor was supposed to call back between 11 and 1. That didn't happen, so I called again. Second person told me phone should arrive within a week, which took a lot of back and forth to even get to that point (and my suggestion that was quickly shot down about allowing me to pick the black one up at the store and still get the Pixel Buds).

Anyhow, I was happy to hear the timeline, and she also mentioned they'd give me some kind of compensation via BB gift card for all of my frustrations. Then the supervisor finally calls 2 hours after he was supposed to, so I figured I'd just ask him to confirm what I was told. He was incredibly rude from the start, and told me customer reps couldn't do that. And when I asked if he'd review the second phone call, he said he would do it later. Then wouldn't answer whether he'd call me back after doing so, and hung up on me when I asked a couple times if he'd just answer that question. One of my worst customer service experiences in a long, long time.

for me Best Buy came through, I ordered the first day of release and got the phone the Monday after; my plan to keep it is another story

So still no updates on my pre-order for a 128GB black Pro for in store pickup which still says 'your order has been delayed but we are still working on getting it you in a few days'...Also, the promotional order for the airbuds was cancelled last week because they were 'unavailable'...

But lo and behold, I was able to order one for instore pickup from a different local store this morning (they had 2 in stock) and I can order the buds online for delivery tomorrow. I will customer service today to see if they will still honor the free buds (hopefully being elite plus with Best Buy will make a difference on that so crossing my fingers on that)...

Played with both 6 and 6Pro today at Best Buy, wow they definitely feel premium and Android 12 its super snappy...pretty impressive how smooth and fast the whole UI experience is. I haven't used an Android since Pixel 3, since have been on my iPhone X...been back and forth jumping back to Android with the 6, still undecided but the phones are definitely SWEET

So I picked up that 128GB pro that I was able to order last night but I was able to order 256GB pro a few minutes ago...Hopefully I can pick that up this evening...I haven't opened the 128GB one yet...

Is the supply finally getting better for these phones?

Also, after talking to BB customer service yesterday, they shipped a pair of the buds to me for free at no charge...Fedex just dropped them (the buds from my order were cancelled last week because they said the item was unavailable)....

That's great. Glad you had goof luck with BB customer service. Better luck than I've had with them recently. What color did you get?

Stormy Black...I don't really care for the other two Pro colors :P

I didn't realized when I was able to order the 256GB yesterday that it would ready for pickup on 11/16 (which is funny since the 256GB I was able to pre-order on 10/19 had a ready for pickup date of 11/28)...

so right now, I have 3 active orders for the Pixel 6 Pro at Best Buy: two from 10/19 (the 128GB which I have no idea when that will be ready, the 256GB which has a pickup date of 11/28) and the order I placed yesterday for the 256GB which should be ready 11/16.

this doesn't count the 128GB I picked up Monday which I will return when I hopefully pick up the 256GB next week...good thing I haven't opened it as that would have incurred a $45 restocking fee...

Boy you're a persistent pixel purchaser lol.
