Android Central Question

Hey,

My phone is stuck in boot looping. I did the factory reset and did not help. I tried to flash but I cannot stay at Fastboot mode. I just figured out the phone thinks I am pressing the power button continuously. Because when I only press volume down or up I can see Recovery mode and fast boot mode. However, it does not stay there and keep restarting. Please help me figure out what to do. I really need this phone.

Welcome to Android Central! I'd use rubbing alcohol and slather it generously around the button so that it infiltrates into the gap around the button. If there's any residue causing the button to stick, hopefully that will dissolve it. (I'd avoid water.). If that doesn't work, then I'd bring it to a repair shop.

I am in the US and nobody heard of Xiaomi in our small town :)
I tried alcohol, no success. Is there a way to open the case clean it and seal it again?

Try with toothpick around the gaps of the button , and work with the button sane time.

You see it pushed in ?

"You see it pushed in ?"
No , the button looks very fine and I think it was an electronic fault/issue.
Thank you all. I opened the back case and clean anywhere I could and its working now. Don't have adhesive to glue it again:)
Do you guys think this fix is temporary or accidental?

Good job! Maybe you can search the web for a typical adhesive used by phone repair shops.

It's too hard to say if this was a one-time issue, or if it might happen again. Hopefully, it was just due to some residue that built up on a contact, which you cleaned off.

Did it have glue when you took it apart? I would wait about a week see if issue comes back then use glue if it had it .

"Did it have glue when you took it apart?" Yes, it was like a thin tape/stripe. I found some on eBay.

Thank you all, you guys are very awesome, inspiring, and helpful.

hi everyone, thanks for the thread, i found the solution!!
based on the chief complain of this thread, yes it is mechanical problem!
as my phone (MI6) got this issue right after falling, and after reading suggestions in this thread, i open my back case,
and i use knife to release or loosen the power button, or even you can put it off for a while, and the problem solved, yes i think it is mechanical problem that the power button keep pressing by it self, idk the exact mecahnism why it did so, may be shocking effect after falling.

Worked for me with Xiaomi Redmi Note 7! Punching the hardware was a most common way to fix issues with CR TV's or mainframe computers in Soviet Union, but I never thought I will apply this method to 14nm process node device :)
