N4 calling me from my own number / possible voicemail issue? (NOT GV)

I'm having a recurring issue: when a call is dismissed, shortly after I get another incoming call from my own number/profile. If I pick up, it's blank / nothing happens and I disconnect. I suspect that it has something to do with the way that the voicemail account is set up, or a possible forwarding issue thereof, but the vm/fwd settings look correct (in that it's got the correct vm number set up, etc).

I do not have a Google Voice number nor account, I have a standard T-Mobile carrier account, and I've not been able to find much info when searching through the forums.

It almost sounds like the call is being put on hold and not sent to voicemail. You probably need to call t-mobile about this. Maybe something is set incorrectly within their voicemail system. Does the person calling leave a voicemail?

Yes, they do. The voicemail icon pops up about the same time that I get the call, which is what led me to the idea that they were related somehow. It seems almost as though it's somewhere in the call routing / changing from incoming call to voicemail - though how or why I have no idea. I hadn't thought about hold, though...I can check the settings there, too, just to be sure.
