N4 still sold at Google Play after Google.io?

I don't believe a new Nexus phone will be announced. They usually come out around Nov/Dec. So yes, if you want one get it now.

the price wont go down since there wont be any new version of N4 at IO.

so go ahead and buy it. if its N7 then i would say wait.

Is there any advantage at all to getting it directly from Google as opposed to T-Mobile or some other retailer (as a direct purchase that is, not part of a plan).

Google Play's 16GB version will cost you $350 upfront. T-Mobile will require a $20 down payment, and $17 a month for 2 years after, totaling $428. Go with the Play Store version if you have the money now.

Yep doubt we will see the N5 at io. Though with Tmo now doing LTE we might see an updated N4 with LTE active. Just a few more days and we'll know.

But my question really is, what will the announcement of even a new N4 with LTE do to the availability of the existing N4. WIl they immediately discontinue the existing n4, and release the new one at an elevated price, or will they still offer the existing one as well, at even a lower price than it is now? I'm tempted to go ahead and buy one now, thinking that after Google.io it won't be available, only as an LTE version at a much higher price. OTOH, they could immediately lower the price of the existing ones right after google.io, in which case I would be foolish not to wait. (Note: I do not want any new n4 with LTE at an inflated price -- the existing one good enough.)

Totally up to you if you want to get it now, but if they do anything like they did with the N7 they will drop the 8gb altogether, make the 16gb $300 and release a 32gb for $350. Lte is still just a rumor but would be worth it for a little more $.

That's really not a problem on new age lte devices.

There are mixed emotions from people concerning lte and battery life, but the general opinion is that yes it does use a little more battery but the pros outweigh the cons. For example I'm on AT&T and get around 9mbps down and 3 up max on HSDPA+ and my buddy has LTE and I've seen his speeds as high as 30down and 12up. To each their own though. :p

th existing N4 won't go away. very little of the world actually has LTE, so you need an HSPA device to sell to them. No point selling a HSPA/LTE device to the many many markets that don't have it.

I can't wait. It's going to be epic esp if KLP is the ****. I Def might have to get the next Nexus.

There are sites like Kogan which sell the Nexus 4 for cheaper then the store price. They probably buy it from the us and ship it over as its cheaper there.

I'm hoping to see a 16 and 32 GB LTE Nexus 4 tomorrow...an LTE 32 GB Nexus 4 on Verizon would be perfect but seems very doubtful.
