N7 wont go to sleep

My N7 wont go to sleep unless I power cycle it. If I do that it will go to sleep. but then it seems like After 30 minuets or an hour it won't go into sleep mode unless I do another power cycle.
Could this be caused by an app?
i may try to do a factory reset but I hate to loose some data on a game or two I put (WAY to much time into) lol
I got it from walmart so I have about 5 or 6 more days until I have to return it .
What do you think?

There could be an app you installed that is keeping it awake inappropriately. Try booting into Safe Mode, which disables all 3rd party apps. If the problem persists, then you probably have a defective unit. https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/2852139?hl=en

Must be some crappy app you installed. Remove them, especially ones that install as a service.
