Naked or case?

Using a simple matte black gel case, fits snugly and a screen protector....has about a 1mm thickness add all around and adds another 1mm to the bezel so if the inevitable DOES happen...its got some play on the screen from damage. The rubbery grip acctually helps me use the phone and doesnt feel like it shouldnt be there at all. not to mention it has button extensions which make the power/volume rocker so much easier to use.

My palm pre...well, lets just say it needed a case. I also work in a fast paced kitchen where crap can happen fast so...ya:)

I think I've completed my "research" on cases, having gone though about half a dozen of them. ;) My objective was to find one that would allow for a good fit into a pouch and an easy, one hand draw from it. I thought that the slim matte black was the best for that. My only issue with it was that its edges made it fairly difficult to feel for the Rezound power switch and the volume rocker. I also ended up with the rubberized case/holster from HTCPedia, currently, an $8 bargain. Very solid and sturdy, no need for the pricey Otter. I did find, however, that there was no way to remove the phone from the holster with one hand. It has to be literally pushed out of the holster, and pushed pretty hard. So, at the moment, I'm using the rubberized case in the pouch.

I don't use cases. The point of a case is to protect the aesthetics of the phone. Ironically, a case destroys the aesthetics of the phone.

I have a dedicated phone pocket and i carry nothing but the device there. I use the front left and i always put the phone so the screen is facing my leg.

That's how I feel but the case offers protection against drops and other unforseen circumstances. Like my dogs jumping on it.

I also prefer no case but I already have one, I have a scratch on my screen and dust under the screen. I've only had the phone for a few weeks. I think I need to take better care of it. At this rate I'll need a replacement in a couple months.

I had my gs2 10 minutes. Dropped it on the ground and cracked the screen badly. I found someone to put on a new screen for 35.00. Now im shopping for a case.

I recently picked-up an Incipio Silicrylic case as a slimmer more pocket friendly replacement for my Otterbox Defender.
The combination of both a soft case with a hard shell for protection was just what I was looking for. It molds well to the hand and provides for a very sure grip. The covered power button is much easier to hit. I even liked the included screen protector.

i went mostly naked on my original nexus, then with a case on my droidx about 50% of the time, then i got the rezound with extended battery. store had no cases for it. 3rd day dropped the rezound from pocket height. shattered the screen.

case for me you better believe it.

That is the question. I've had my Rezound for a couple of weeks now and initially had a gel skin case on it but it is too grabby and snags going in and out of my pocket. I tried a snap on hard case today and the ridge around the screen gets in my way plus after a couple of hours my row of red buttons went dark. Took the case off and within 20 minutes they came back on and I liked the feel of the phone w/o a case and it was much less bulky.

So...Do you use a case or go without? I like the phone without but worry about drop, pocket, etc. causing damage. If you use a case, which one? Also are there any minimalist cases that still protect the phone or is bulk something you just have to put up with? I had a silicone gel case from VZ on my Fascinate that was great but haven't found anything like it for the Rezound.

Your feedback is appreciated. :-\

Re: Case or No Case

I've always used the Seidio Surface, with holster. It's probably one of the thinner ones yet still feels like it gives protection. I've dropped mine a few time with each phone I have had and it holds up well. A bit thinner than a silicone case, has a good feel, not as grippy as the silicone but still a nice firm feel, does not attract lint.

Everyone has their favorite, but if you google seidio surface you'll find nice things to be said.

Here's amazon's reviews for the one for the HTC DROID Incredible, but this one is similar, just got mine

I've been looking at that case but hard to tell how much bulk it adds to the phone...any feedback? Also, with the hard back case does it go into and out of your pocket easily? Wish they had a red soft with hard black combo. :D

I use the otterbox defender series, where it adds bulk,i learned just why it costs a little more, everything is easy to use with it installed,no need to baby the phone, it has to last me 2 years.

Just as important as the protection, I simply like a larger phone in my hand. The thing is in and out of my pocket all day long. I like there to be some grip to it, else it turn into a missle and fly across the room. I went with the Otter Defender unit, but removed the plastic shield, so I don't miss the beautiful screen.

Note: I always store the phone screen to thigh in my pocket, with nothing else in there (change, keys, etc.). I have them for years without a scratch.

I love this case. it goes in and out of pocket very easy. There is no bulk factor like the otterbox. I didn't even really notice that it is on my phone. I was hoping for the same color combo, but I went with the black on black till then.

I've got the garden variety Verizon black slick silicone that isn't overly slippery and fits like a glove. IMO, black works best on this phone. With the red highlights of the capactive buttons, Beats logo and around the camera lens the phone just looks minimalistic bad a$$. :D Only complaint...I've been experimenting with the extended battery (for $25 it's cheap enough that you don't feel compelled to use) and when you remove the snug fitting case you have a tendency to pull the back cover off in an awkward way. One thing I miss about Moto is that this would never happen with one of their phones.

I have been looking for a holster type to protect the screen, but do not want to have to use a full case in conjunction with the holster. Does anyone make just the holster portion for screen protection?

Seidio makes a spring clip holster that is felt lined to protect the inward facing screen. They also have a super thin surface case with a matching holster.

Both of those cases state that they are designed to be used with respective cases, not for use with a bare phone. Several phones ago I had a slick holster that snapped onto the phone to protect the screen. Ever since then (maybe 5 years ago) I have not found anyone that makes a holster that is designed to be used without a case. Very frustrating.

Finding the right case/holster for this phone has been frustrating. Verizon has very little to offer, found a few on Amazon and AC's store here.

Sorry, there was just a spring clip holster (no case required) available for my TB. Not the same for this phone. The Seidio combos are great though. They add very little bulk and the soft touch coating feels comfortable.
