NASTY problem encountered after rebooting phone

Just got my edge (ATT) yesterday and after tinkering with the setup for a while now, I've finally gotten it where I want it (Nova installed). After tweaking/downloading/updating, I figured I'd give it a hand and reboot it.

Now, after rebooting the phone, what I would describe as the "top bar" of the phone is non-responsive to touch. This means that nothing happens when attempting to swipe down to access notifications and quick settings. The rest of the screen works normally, but the top half inch or so is non-responsive.

No matter how long I wait (after reboot) it does not appear to resolve itself. I have not rooted the phone or done anything out of the norm. I've never experienced this on any other phone. Eventually, after several reboots, the issue "gets fixed" somehow.

Anyone else experience or heard about this? If so, any fixes?

Samsung? You reading this?

Try changing launchers again to ensure it isn't a bug with your launcher.

Check in Settings-Accesibility-Dexterity and interaction and check the Interaction control settings, as you will see in the description, it says that you can block or unblock certain areas of the screen from touch interaction, sounds like the problem you describe.

Assuming is not the above, then do a backup of your Nova Settings just in case and uninstall it, then see what happens with the Default launcher. If this doesn't work either, then at least you know it's not Nova and you can restore from your backup, but then I'd suggest to Wipe Cache Partition and Wipe data/factory reset, sorry but other than get a replacement in which you must do all the stuff again, can't tell you anything else.

Something similar happened to me yesterday. My plane had just landed, I turn my phone on and nothing opened when pressed! I could swipe screen to screen, pull down my menu but no apps would open. I held the power button down and it wouldn't shut off. I waited about 45 min and finally I was able to reset and everything was fine.. Weirdness!
