Navigation Bar buttons still present after switching to gesture controls

Hi all, this didn't happen on the Fold 2 and I find it weird and annoying. I have the navigation bar invisible and set to gestures. Yet if I press the bottom left edge of the screen, it goes back, bottom middle edge of the screen and it closes the current app, and bottom right edge of the screen and it goes to the app switcher.

It even overwrites the keyboard so whenever I'm using any keys on the bottom row of the keyboard, the frickin buttons activate.

Has anyone had this and/or know how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Are you referring to the Edge Bar or Samsung Pay?

Hi. It's the same area of the bottom edge of the screen as Samsing Pay. But it's literally the same 3 haptic navigation buttons still being active when they shouldn't be.

Edit: Crap double post because of this issue actually. Accidentally hit the bottom left edge so it went back a screen to before I posted that message even though that button shouldn't even be active.

Tried to replicate what you described and I can't, unless I misunderstood the issue.

You sure you disable it? Once you completely switch to gesture only, no buttons or heptic buttons shouldn't show up. I've tried to replicate your issue but unable to.

Go to settings --> Click Display-->Navigation Bar -->Click On Swipe gestures --> Tik Gesture Hints (off) --> Show buttons to hide keyboard (on) --> Block gesture wit S pen (off)

Are there any other settings anywhere else I need to adjust to turn off the navigation buttons? Currently these are my settings:

But if I press on the very bottom left, very bottom middle or very bottom right, I get the haptic feedback and the button activates.

I should note that you have to press with a slight bit of force, not just tap. And the haptic occurs as you lift your finger off, not when you press on it. Anyone able to replicate this?

I can't see this being a hardware defect on mine but maybe it is.

Yeah that's exactly my settings so crap, not sure what's going on. But the buttons, although invisible, are still activating. Tried restarting too and nothing is helping.

Well decided to try Samsung chat help and got it fixed! Had to reset all settings. So I gotta redo all that but it's not happening anymore. Guess it really was just a glitch. Thanks all for your help as well!

Scratch that it's still happening. Screw it. I'm going with the gestures where you swipe from the side. That's a good enough fix I guess. Crap, thought it was fixed. Oh well lol.

I would try safe mode to see if some 3rd party app is reaking havoc and causing the issue

Oh let me try that actually. Just weird because I have my phone exactly as did on the Fold 2 and it didn't have that issue. However just remembered I did select mirror home screens this time. Wonder if that is doing anything weird.

Still happens in safe mode too. I guess I'll have to live with it. Surprised no one else is seeing this though. If you press down with your thumb on the bottom edge (like have half your thumb on the screen and half off) of the screen for say, 1 second, and release you're not feeling any haptics and having it activate the button (depending on left, right or middle)?

No I don't see that behavior. The final thing I would try is a factory reset after backing up your data as painful as that sounds. If it still.does it I would try to return it.

Do screen record and post if you can.

Forgive if this has already been asked and answered but are you using any 3rd party launchers?

I think it is because Samsung has 2 types of gestures. There are the default Android 11 gestures and the one where the 3 different areas represent each of the 3 navigation buttons. From the screenshot above it looks like this 2nd type of gesture navigation was selected which would mean pressing or swiping on each area will simulate a button press.
