Navigation voice

I installed dasBAMF 2.1 the other day and everything is awesome about it. One thing is bugging me though. When I first installed, the navigation voice was nice...not the robotic voice that everyone talks about. It didn't read street names, but just gave directions (turn right in a quarter mile, etc). Every time I would start up navigation it would prompt me to install the text-to-speech synthesis data package. Somehow in the back of my mind I knew this would bring back the horrible robotic voice, but out of annoyance for seeing the message every time I started the app, I downloaded the data package and of course, now I'm stuck with robot woman.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of the speech synthesis package and go back to my normal-speaking navigation voice?

Interesting find. The funny thing is that the normal voice was working full time for the for the past few days. I was in South Carolina for work for 11 days and of course was using my TBolt to navigate the entire time (1100 miles). Not once did I hear the horrible robot woman's voice ... That is until I installed the speech synthesis data files like the app was prompting me to do.

I've tried wiping the phone and reinstalling the ROM, but that doesn't seem to work. I'll try formatting the SD card after making a backup. Maybe the synthesis files are on there.

I got it. Deleted the svox folder from my SD card. Now I get the prompt to download speech synthesis data again when I navigate, but my normal speaking woman is back.

I've always had the robot-woman voice, but off and on the past week, I'll get the regular-woman voice. It seems to switch back and forth with no real pattern. I'd like to have the regular woman voice full-time. So much nicer! I'm not rooted - using stock...

I always use SVOX UK English voice (female) as my default TTS voice.
