Necessary notifications on A13 5G, only?

I'd like to know which notifications are absolutely necessary? Like, I'm thinking Email, Calendar, Browser, Ant-virus, PW manager....? My concern is that if I don't have certain apps on notification, that app will not be functioning efficiently. Thanks.

Only you can know what's important to you. No app depends on notifications to function efficiently.

It only depends on you if you need them to function effectively.

There's a difference.

For example, I couldn't care less about notifications from the browser. I know that more and more websites want to send notifications to me, but they can keep their notifications. I don't need them. So I don't need anything from the browser.

Personally, I get notifications from:
- My emails and my calender.
- My daily alarms and reminders of course.
- The two news apps I use, for breaking news.
- Score Mobile, letting me know when the Saints or LSU is about to start their football games and game progress 'til the end (can't always catch them on TV).
- MS Teams, all the work meetings and conversations.

There are about 20 or so other apps that will send notifications by default that I just turn off. I don't need to know anything from them. There are many more apps that have notification options but don't actually ever send anything. So it wouldn't matter if they are on or not.

Edit to add...

I let the Google Play Store and Samsung App Store notify me when app updates are available.

And texts too.

Turning off notifications for an app will not interfere with the apps's function -- it just might change how effective the app is for you. If there's an app notification that I'm still interested in seeing but don't want to be bothered with a tone, I'll just make it silent. But if there's an app whose notifications are completely useless to me, I'll toggle all notifications off for that app.

Thanks, Joel. Your using Google Play Store and Samsung App Store to notify on updates is worth doing, as is your other used notifications.

OK, you've given me a good lead: Before turning off an app's notification, I'll first wait a while and see just what notifications I don't need or want. Then I will turn off that app.

Yep. Probably a good idea to see what you want to see first. Then silence the ones you know you don't need.

Every app installs with its notifications enabled. But, as I mentioned, not every app actually uses it. You'll see the ones that do soon enough.

The Play Store can be set to update all apps automatically as needed, but I chose to not do that. Then it'll tell me which ones need updating when an update is available. I'll install all updates anyway, but I just want to know which ones get updates.
