Hi all. I hope I have posted in the right section. I had my staffer at work email my yearly schedule to me as an attachment. I tried to open it and it says it can not open file. What app can I install that will open various downloads or attachments? Thanks.

Thanks Troneas. I will check on my PC and go from there. I would like to save it on my One.

it will depend what file format is the attachment?

Astro file manager can tell you what file type something is as well as open several file types. Not sure how you looked at the file in the first place, did you just open downloads, but I am surprised nothing popped up saying what app would you like to open this file with. Unless it's a really obscure file type? Astro is good and there are others at the Play Store.

Nothing popped up asking me anything. I was surprised. I did download astro, so I will check into it. Thanks.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Astro could not open it.

Now I'm curious what file type this is cause I've never encountered a file I couldn't open with Astro except maybe .rar? That's not to say I've tried to open a bunch of different file types either.

Kingsoft Office supports a bunch of "office type" files (docs, spreadsheets, etc). You could also try QuickOffice.

the htc one comes with polaris office which supposedly should open office files as well.

but i'm still not clear what the OP wants.

i thought he wanted to open a file but it seems he wants a file manager after all.

The file I am trying to open is an xps file. I did install b1 archiver but still have had no luck opening my file. My HTC one is running a gpe ROM so I don't have polaris on there anymore.

Try searching for "Android XPS." I found Docs Viewer. Doesn't get the greatest overall reviews, but still worth trying.
