Ok i rooted my phone several months ago and now the touch screen is ing up and i need to get it fixed i went to sprint the guy said unroot my phone and bring it back. easy enough
I WAS SO ING WRONG

I have an evo 3d cdma hboot 1.5. and i unlocked the bootloader through htc dev. i installed clockwork recovery then installed synergy_ext4_optimized and put synergy_rls1_nightly on my phone which put the synergy recovery on there.

Now a couple weeks ago i try to put a different rom on to see if this will fix my screen problem, EVERY rom i try to install, installs successfully. then when it starts up it hangs at the HTC screen forever even after restart. i have tried several roms. i thought this may be do to the synergy recovery. so i put twrp on still with no success i figured it may be that ext4_filesystem i installed, tried to find a stock one but there is none.

My phone only likes to run synergy rom, it is the only one i can get to boot up. each time i try to install a new rom i clear cache, dalvik, and system data.

My last chance to get this thing back is using the RUU i ran it it clears the settings then gets ERROR 115 (Unkown error). I read somewhere that i need to lock the bootloader. i did so and tried RUU again but it failed. so i go to the bootloader to put synergy back on for the 15th time and guess what the bootloader recovery doesn't work because i locked it. at this point i thought i was beyond ed. no boot and no bootloader. but i went through the htc dev process again and got it unlocked and as im typing synergy is installing again.

any thoughts on how to get my evo back to a stock rooted or un rooted rom?

tl;dr
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME GET TO A STOCK ROM, rooted or unrooted. i installed synergy on my evo and it seems to be the only rom that works all others hang at HTC screen.

first what base build are you on?

download this RUU i have used this one, confirmed to work http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=20
rename it to PG86IMG.zip place on the root of your sdcard, reboot to bootloader with your usb cable pluged already and make sure fastboot usb are highlighted, open your command propmt to the directory with fastboot and type fastboot oem lock follow prompts on screen when it shows relocked at the top reboot to bootloader without your usb cable pluged in , hboot should scan the zip and when its done it ask you if you want to install update, select update.

Thank you for your help, it worked, and hopefully this thread helps others with there problems. are there any roms that you would suggest that arent synergy and that dont restart randomly like synergy, and wont up my phone so i cant recover it like synergy. i was thinking cleanrom

Im Glad you have it back to normal.
CleanRom is what i use

I use a completely senseless version of android revolution 1.1.3 with vanilla core as my system launcher. Running anthrax 013 for my kernel! OC at 1.5 ghz and completely stock and insanely stable. No reboots to speak of. Synergy isn't the reason for the reboots, the kernel is the stability issue. Anthrax kernels are the best choice IMO for this phone.

I download the RUU and place it on the root of my SD card, but it doesn't seem to recognize it when I try to update through the bootloader... I used fastboot to relock the phone, but when bootloader loads it runs through all the zip files but doesn't do anything. I'm stuck, can anyone help?

I renamed it "PC86IMG". Didn't add ".zip" or anything to the title. Put it on the root of the SD card. Funny thing is, after a few attempts at running bootloader, I checked the SD card and it wasn't there anymore. So I tried it again, made sure that it was there, and same thing happened after a few attempts of running the bootloader. Can't find anything in the forums like this...

Nevermind, I'm an idiot. It's PG and I keep typing PC. I nominate myself for Android Central Fail of the Day..

download this RUU i have used this one, confirmed to work [ZIP] - RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.08.651.3 - Downloads - Scott's ROMS

No, well kind of. Thats a great link its the only PG86IMG that worked for me. Thanks!

I have pretty much the same exact problem that the OP had. After reloading PG86IMG through the bootloader or w/e it worked perfect for like 3 hours and then the touch screen issues came back.

Any suggestions?

I have been told that maybe it has something to do with the flash? Someone else has given me advice but it was too complicated for a noob like me. If your up to it do you think you can give me step by step instructions on troubleshooting this?

I don't care if I run stock or a rooted cleanrom or w.e. I just want it to run smoothly like it used to. Thanks!

Edit:

Currently

Android Version: 2.3.4
HTC Sense Version 3.0
HBOOT-1.50.0000 (*** LOCKED ***)

Also, the reason I was having problems with PG86IMG was because it would always say something like, "UPDATE FAIL Main version is older"

I tried something a week ago that I saw on you tube in which I did something in my computer's command prompt to mess with the HBOOT, so that could have helped as well...

I don't really understand (am ignorant to) that complicated stuff , so if you could give me a Andriod-For-Dummies troubleshoot that would be great! Thanks.

are you going to root?

What touch screen issues are you having? if its doing it on any rom you flash maybe you have a hardware issue

Thanks for your reply,

It's not a hardware problem as far as I can tell, as the touchscreen works fine in all areas of it, depending on what App I am using.

The phone App for example, I can't click the middle button on the bottom of the home screen. With other Apps that area of the touchscreen works fine.

Also, as previously mentioned, IDC if I root it or not, I have no preference..

Whatever you guys think is the easiest way to trouble shoot this...

Well I had a similar screen issue and took it to the Sprint store. They said they were going to fix it but then didn't have the part in stock, so they just swapped it out for a new phone. I was surprised to find out that they didn't run the OTA to get me to the latest FW rev, so I got it with hboot 1.4! Now I'm all rooted and ROM'd again with hboot 1.4 goodness and s-off! The Sprint guy was real familiar with the screen issue, so I think it may be more common that we are aware of. They were willing to do whatever was needed to get it fixed for me and that's all that really matters in my eyes. Take it in and have them look at it and you may just walk out with a band new phone!
