Need Help on selection a Micro-SD Memory Card

New to this forum, I would like to ask a question from some of the senior Gurus of this forum. Current I have an older model Samsung Galaxy Tablet S2 (T813) O/S-7, and would like it upgrade the Micro SD memory card. it currently has a 16-GB card. My question is ... what is the maximum capacity or configuration that this tablet can accept, which I can install a higher memory capacity in the side slot? According to the product specifications the access speed is ~ 200 MB. But no mention of max memory capacity.

I have been reading the literature regarding Samsung instructions, user guides and Android O/S, then found the reading material to be a little bit insufficient (very generic) and a little difficult to actually apply. I found I needed a lot of trial and error tinkering to discover the actual internal system and how it works.

Sorry to be a bit verbose, but I expected a lot more information and being a retired Electronic Engineer III. My background is a Designer of Microwave RF Cell Communications Equipment and Systems from (2 to 23GHz) Systems and their associated multiplexers which modulate and multiplex the RF channel signals.

Usually older devices despite their spec sheet allow up to 1TB. Newer devices usually list 1TB but allow 2TB.

Look for a UHS3 (U3) A2 spec card. Tablet probably can't take advantage of it but at least if you use it for other things it will be fast.

Stay away from no names and if you're on Amazon make sure it's SHIPPED AND SOLD by Amazon and does not say Bulk Packaging.

Samsung said 128MB at the time they tested and released the S2, but as SyCoReaper suggests, your device may be able to handle a larger memory card.

I have been using SanDisk (now owned by Western Digital - another trusted North American brand) SD cards for 20+ years and have purchased dozens upon dozens of them for both work and home. Never had a single issue with any of them and I can't say that about any other brand that I have tried.

Since when? Tab S4 I can move an app the the SD card right now.

Actually I can move it on my Tab S8 Ultra too, just checked.

But doesn't that just move a portion of the data files? My understanding was that the primary part of the app still needs to be installed on Internal Storage (and that's usually a big chunk of the total app size).

Installing an entire app on the SD card would require Adoptable Storage, which Samsung doesn't support.

I don't think you can off load all Data to the SD card just partial and still I wouldn't suggest that because they don't have the same write speeds as internal storage and can get corrupted just with an update if left in the device

Welcome to the forums. You should be able to use any SDXC card. I'd stick to getting a SanDisk or Samsung.

What data are you planning on using the SD Card for?

My experience has been the opposite. At best I was able to move about 30% of the data to the card. most of the time it was a few MB. And that's if it can be moved, most of the time, they couldn't be.
