many people say they have push with hotmail working perfectly with the new activesync they came out with. I am having a problem getting it to setup properly.

These are the settings that are said to be needed to be input into the exchange program on the droid x. I need to know exactly where these items need to go

email: myemail@hotmail.it
server address: m.hotmail.com
SSL enabled
username: myemail@hotmail.it
password: password
Domain: <blank>

my phone shows these. please tell me what of the above goes where

Domain/User

Password
Use Secure Connection (with a checkmark)

Email address
Server

any help to make this work is very much appreciated.

I have the same problem. I can receive, but not send. I setup Gmail to have a from address of hotmail, which works for new email, but within hotmail, I can't reply to anything. It just seems weird that the Evo didn't have this problem but my Droid X does. Help!

hotmail works fine on my droid x.. i didn't do anything but put in my name and password.
not sure why you are having troubles?

like i said. the just putting in name and password is for basic pull email, that polls the server every 15 minutes(and is not deleted on the hotmail side). What I am talking about is for push email(like gmail). Hotmail just setup activesync for hotmail which means you can put info in like an exchange server and email is immediate. I am trying to find out, out of the info provided what goes into what slot on my droid x to take advantage of hotmail push.

Same here. I just created an account during initial setup, plugged in my login info, and bang - Instant, fully functional push Hotmail. It actually works better on my X than it did on my BB Storm 2. I was never prompted to provide any of the info you are listing there. However, when switching from BB to DX, I thought I might need the info to configure POP setting and found the following elsewhere:

Incoming POP3 Mail ServerSetting :
User Name : user@hotmail.com
Password : your email password
Incoming Mail Server : pop3.live.com
Mail Box Name : Hotmail POP3
Mail Box Type : POP3
Security (Port) : SSL
Port : 995

Outgoing POP3 Mail ServerSetting :
Email Address : user@hotmail.com
User Name : user@hotmail.com
Password : your email password
Outgoing Mail Server : smtp.live.com
Security (Port) : SSL/TLS
Port : 587

Hope that helps.

EDIT: I see what you are saying now with being able to delete from you phone and having it cleared on Hotmail, too. Mine does not do that. I just went in and activated Data Push, so we'll what happens.

I appreciate the help. but pop3 accounts are not push email. if you send yourself a test email you will see that it takes maybe 15mins for your phone to register the email. This is do to how long it takes the phone to poll the server(requesting whether email is there or not) so pop3 just asks the server every 15 minutes do you have email. If yes, then it sends it, if no then it waits another 15 mins and asks again. With true push your mail will come instantly, and any change you make on your phone would be made immediately in your mailbox online also(the same way your gmail works). Also with true push you would also see an increase in battery life because the server is doing all the work the phone is not needing to send an inquiry every 15 minutes to your hotmail account. The reason hotmail is allowing activesync now is because they want to be viewed as an easy to get instant email.

Alright Activesync for Hotmail should be live an active this Monday. What this means is that if you do not have a corporate exchange account, you can use the built in exchange client in android and get real push email as well as contacts and calendar from Hotmail. So now with this update Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail will all be available immediately with push on android. I actually got my account in the pretesting phase and I must say it is very fast, equal to gmail speed wise.

I just have the basic email. i've done nothing special.
i sent myself a test email from my laptop and it showed up on my phone 1 minute later.

@ 1:15am i sent the test from my pop3 account to my hotmail account
@ 1:16am it showed up on my DX

Yes but when you delete it on your phone it does not delete on hotmail. That is the other part off the equation.
