Yeah..so it should say 975U not u1 in phone settings about software

I did that I wonder what happened then. It sounds like I did the correct things. I will try again with 3b patch. Thank you so much for your help. I have never flashed an android. I used to upgrade my os on my blackberry years ago. Lol. I did not know about recovery mode. You are always so helpful. That's what I like about this community. Have a good night.

When I now look at about screen on software it now has tmb so does that mean the flash worked.

Probably because of the $600 trade in for the unlocked model on samsung.com

I saw many people who usually buy carrier model buy the unlocked model because of that reason. But now they want the carrier model because some carrier specific feature doesn't work on their carrier and also think that carrier model gets better signal than unlocked model (which they don't).

I would have bought unlocked model irrespective of the trade in value and won't touch the carrier model even if it's free

Yeah even though you could disable all the carrier stuff you need etc, personally I just don't like the carrier models and firmware. Been that way from the beginning, but that's only like a tiny percent of people and 99.9% don't care about all these stuff and are happy with the carrier phones.

you could disable all the carrier stuff

I have everything disabled on my Note 8. just figuring it might be simpler and lead to a better experience not to have it all preloaded.
