Ummm. i just got banned. which is a setback but whatevs.
my phone says its rooted. but when i try to use ROMTools.v231.by.mmmark111v to flash, (it does everything, pretty nifty) my cpu tells me that its NOT rooted. I loaded up Z4 for the heck of it, and it also says my phone is rooted, but my computer isn't getting root access. i've power cycled, rebooted my pc, tried same on laptop and still no pc root access. any ideas as to what i may have done wrong? i'm on 2.2.2

Yes I saw that you got banned I was going to post that you only see the # after you allow su permission (by entering the su command) until than you'll see a $ so you are rooted good job and remember to install a custom recovery before trying to install anything else.

see thats where i'm having a problem. i enter it and all goes well but its not permanent. i get the # sign but as soon as i close the cmd window and i reopen to verify it goes back to the $.

yepp. first thing i did. and it was successful but my pc doesn't like doing cool stuff so its not cooperating with me and letting me make the root permanent.

After doing enough rooting and flashing, your computer will be cool and it wont appear any different. Lol. Because its all in the drivers and android system files including the adb tools and having your path variables set. :)

haha yeah i did all the driver installing setting path variables, which totally sucked some big ones. but still. this issue is angering me. a lot. i'm running out of ideas. the root is there. and i can access it from my phone. but i can't make it stay. i'm gonna just unroot, reroot. blah blah. i'll post again. i hope the headaches worth it. I'll feel more accomplished when i root than when i jailbroke.

I did that. Followed instructions word for word. My pc still has no root access. I gave it permission on superuser, but heres a question. Whats it supposed to show up as under Allowed Apps?
here's what I have:
Unknown 2000
Package: unknown
Requested UID: root (0)
Command: /system/bin/sh
Status: Allow

Yeah, that's correct. You do have root access.

Just install something like Titanium Backup on your phone to verify you have root on your phone. Maybe it's just your computer being screwy, and are you sure you have all the drivers installed?
