Need major help

I'm all new to android. How do I root (on a mac)? Is there a thread that explains what ROMs, ODIN, TARs, etc are? registered at xda but those guys can be harsh on new people.

NA they are not harsh. Just be sure to follow the rules. Not much out there for a Mac.
