So I finally decided that I definitely would like to root my phone, but have absolutely no idea of how or where to begin. I really don't wanna mess up my phone. But anyway, I guess I have the latest software version (2.3.4, Sense 2.1, software number 2.11.605.5). I've heard there are such root programs or what not that are basically a "push the button" and viola... can anyone suggest or direct me to the post with the easiest "root for dummies" for my TB??? I hate to have to ask sucha noob question, you guys on this site seem to be all experts and developers lol. Any help is greatly appreciated.

oh, btw, I have a Mac, guess I should mention that since I'm sure there are different rooting methods for pc's and mac's...

http://forums.androidcentral.com/thunderbolt-rooting-roms-hacks/123060-guide-how-root-unroot-thunderbolt-revolutionary.html is the only method I know if right now... but I do not think it works for the Mac yet!!!

Check out the link I posted above.

I may be late to this party, but if I may give a shameless plug to the FAQ in my signature, it's pretty good reading for someone like yourself who's a bit unsure about the root process.

I never want to discourage anyone from rooting, but at the same time, I think it's important to know what what to expect. The benefits of rooting are widely documented, but a lot of the other "responsibilities" are not in my opinion.

Only dumb question is a question not asked.

LOLOLO...I wouldn't call us EXPERTS per se...the Moderators and Developers are genius's..I would watch out for CYBER...he can get a little freaky sometimes...LOLOLOL......kidding!

I have only been flashing (my phone, not the other kind) for about 2 months and I love it. I just followed the guide, looked on YouTube and learned that way. The best way to learn is observe and read.....try things, have fun. I flash about 4 or 5 times a month because I can....LOLOL

have fun, and ask questions!

nice, thanks for all the help guys... i gather that flashing is like changing the theme type on your phone or what have you..am I correct or way off base??

Themes.... not themes... it's is an operating system... but it does get easier to do every time you do change your ROM... and after a while it gets addicting and you want to do it more and more often.

Flashing is more like changing the operating system. There are many different ROM's out there. You have the newest radio from the GB release. So any ROM should be fine to run. I'd start with a sense ROM then after a few of these you might want to try a AOSP ROM. Best advice I can give is do a lot of reading on the ROM you decide to try and have fun. If you need any help PM me and I try to answer your question or point you to someone who knows the answer.
Like fatboy97 who just ninja'd me. LOL He's really good and knowledgeable.
