Need some convicting of keeping my Note8

Hello everyone I am new to this forum I found it by googling Note8 Forum.

Welcome to the forums. Caught up on this thread. Was merely curious on how you are doing through your transition?

Some people are just comfortable with an IPhone. I had to use a work issued IPhone 5 and hated it. I wanted to use my S6 edge plus instead.
Now that I'm retired, it's Android for me all day everyday.
If an IPhone maked you happy, rock on. I'd still give the Note a shot though. Jmo

Train Google to be your asset on this phone. it's more natural and intuitive to understanding you on a contextual level. Moving over from and iPhone can be difficult and really challenging at first. I would recommend spending sometime watching the how to videos from the Android Central YouTube channel and also the Android Authority channel. Both have great advice and direction on users moving from one OS to the other. hope the best for you. I love my Note 8 and can't put it down. it's an amazing phone

I came from an iPhone 7 Plus. I’ve been using Apple products for about 7 years. This year I decided to try the Note 8 as I too was not impressed with the iPhone offerings.

So the first thing I did was download all my photos in iCloud to my desktop. I then used the Google photos uploader to upload all photos to Google Photos.

Then I found an app called Join to mimic Apple's handoff. I can now answer texts on my computer, share the clipboard (both ways), see my Note's notifications, transfer files and photos and a few other things that I don’t remember at the moment.

For messaging I first used the Facebook messenger app and set it as my default sms app. It should ask you if you want to do that the first time you launch it. You can also move to something like WhatsApp but the people in your life have to install it on their phones. In my case most everyone said yes. The nice thing about WhatsApp is that it does everything that Apple messages does, video, voice, and text.

The best email client I found is called Nine. Free for 14 days then $9.99 if you end up liking it enough. As far as your iCloud email accounts, if you have two factor authentication turned on you have to log into your Apple ID account via your browser and create an app specific password.

That’s about it for now. It’s pretty late and I’m fried. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions. I’ll be more than happy to help.

Lastly, I knew going in that the experience was going to be different and that two weeks is not enough time to really form an opinion, therefore I decided to go all in and see what happens a few months down the road. Worst case next year I go back to iPhone. Best case I stick with Android and don’t look back.

Google apps will sync between Android and Apple with no problem. I use the following with my macbook

Google photos
Google keep

They all work perfect for me.

Haha. Not near as good as the note 8. Maybe slow updates but we still have way more than Apple does for features. Don't need to update. We get security updates every month.

I also run a business and have two iCloud e-mails and it wouldn't let me add either of my accounts to my new Note8.

I would suggest you go to Best Buy (at the Samsung kiosk) if you have one close and take a class, they will be able to help you get all those things done. I think Verizon has classes as well. I say this because the Note series of phones are the best "business" device available. If you will take the time to learn it, then in this forum there are links to getting "action notes" back on your device, but this is advance from where you are at right now. With action notes you can use your pen during a call to take notes on your discussions with prospects, which then should popup every time you talk to them at that number. This turns prospects into customers. I jot down the prices I'm quoting, any personal information they shared, which gives me cause to reach out to them again. It usually takes 5 contacts to turn a prospect into a customer, so when my phone reminds me Joe, at XYZ company has a sons baseball game on Saturday, that gives me a reason to call him back on Monday to see how his son Johnny did, which helps form that relationship, which turns into sales. I believe it's worth the effort if that type of tool would be of use in your business.

If you're not going to take the time to learn the device, and use the pen, whatever technology you know and will use, is better than one that frustrates you. Because even with the best case, if you throw it hard enough in your frustration, it will probably brake.

I hate to see anyone struggle with their decision making process when it comes to something this, changing phones and operating systems. It can be daunting. But all you need is someone to hold your hand a bit and get over the rough patches.

I know you probably read my first post below. But seriously if you have any questions, concerns or moments of read doubt. Either post me a message here or send me a PM. I’ll take whatever time I need to to get you through the roughest parts of this transition.

I’m an older (55yo) tech geek so for me it’s really just a matter of getting the round pegs to fit into the octagonal shapes. It’s really that easy. Of course I’m making a bit of a joke about it but you have to keep your sense of humor about all of this.

The Galaxy Note 8 is a fantastic phone. It’s smooth as butter, great camera and some really outstanding features. Features that the iPhone presently does not have. In many peoples eyes the Note 8 is the best phone available today. Even after iPhone 8 and Pixel 2 were announced.

So take it nice and easy and if you trust me to help you (if you need it of course) then I am fairly certain you’ll walk away smiling and hugging you shiny Note 8 O
