Need to completely reset Rezound and SD card

I currently have a (rooted) Rezound that is messed up so I'm sending it back. I want to completely reset it to factory. I know you can do this through settings, but I've heard horror stories of people selling Androids and the buyer finding all kind of information from the past user buried down on the SD card or actual phone.

What can I do to verify that my phone is completely wiped as new?

I do this, wipe the phone via the Settings menu, then I take the SD card and format it on my PC.

you would need s-off to restore it to factory.
