Without running the toolkit, does your computer recognize your device when you plug it in?

go to start menu > right click computer > manage > Device Manager > Other Devices (you should see the Galaxy Nexus here) Double click it > Update Driver > Browse my computer > Let me Pick from list > Samsung android Device > click Yes.
And then everything Should work after that. (make sure Debugging is also turned on in your developing settings)

In other devices I dont see galaxy nexus, all I see is Android 1.0 and OMAP4440
I cant find Samsung android Device but it shows samsung android phone, then when I click to update its updating ADB files and it gives me awarning before updating, is that right?
Yeah. That is fine. It should pull the correct drivers from samsung.... I know your computer recognizes the phone... but it doesnt have the right drivers. I had to do the same thing.
I did everything and it didnt work, I have looked at all youtube tutorials and made sure the drivers are there D:
Is your debugging turned on? its in the developer settings. And do you have ADB and Fastboot on your computer?
I have debugging turned on and How do i check if ADB and fastboot are installed? I think i installed them before though
download this to your computer.... make a new folder called android in you C:\ Drive. Android SDK | Android Developers
then search your comp and type cmd and open it
then type cd C:\Android\platform-tools
then have your phone plugged in and type adb reboot-bootloader in the terminal (if your phone restarts into the bootloader then its communicating correctly)
It says the system cannot find the patch specified, I downloaded it and extracted it to my C drive
I probably didnt type the full path... when you type cd C:\Android\(then type each folder divided by "\")(you want the end result to be where your fastboot, and ADB are located on your computer)

That worked but how do I unlock the bootloader? It always says waiting for device then
Plug the phone into the computer.
Then power down the phone. Then hold Volume down and power until the bootloader shows up.
Then go to your computer and do the same steps as above. Open cmd. and type cd C:\Android\(your navigations) and then type fastboot oem unlock
if it still says waiting for device... Go back to the link I sent in the last message and read the whole section "Test ADB and Install Device Drivers" This will give you the right drivers.
Ps... You can always try to download Samsung Kies. If all this fails as well.

Use XDA-Developers for rooting stuff. You can find everything you need there. ROMs, Kernels, Etc

But be careful on this website. If you dont search first.... they can be brutal. But very informative.
