I've had the same phone 3 years now. I just got my Pixel 3 from google and am switching from my current carrier to Fi.

I'm on a mad rush marching band day trip with little down time and no good place to call google (it's loud on the bus) and I don't think I have time to transfer provider, move over contact info etc., but have my Pixel with me today and really want to use it as an extra camera.

Can I boot up the phone and just use as a camera without beginning the registration process, and do registration and all that jazz tomorrow, or not so much?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes switch on the phone and skip everything. You can use the camera just fine without logging into Google or registering your sim etc. At least you can do that on the Google store unlocked version and not sure if you have the Verizon version and if it's the same behavior. I guess it should be same.

Why don't you just put your current sim in there now and use your current carrier then change to Fi when you get a chance to?

You can take out the Verizon sim it comes with and boot the phone and skip all the steps :)
