Negative Comments....

100% true.... we have a fair amount of selection bias here and it can cloud things a bit. It's like going to a hospital and coming away assuming that everyone in the world has some horrible illness or medical issue. Fact is that the 5X is a brilliant phone. Overall, it's quick, feels great, etc... But like every other phone, it has its share of warts... and people will congregate to discuss them here. And Google has been working to address those issues, most notably in the recent MHC19j update. And I fully expect that they address the Google Camera wonk.

To be perfectly honest, if had to shelf my 6P for a bit for some reason, I would probably be quite happy with using the 5X in its place. And considering its price (even lower if you take advantage of the Fi discount) it's incredible phone for the money.

Totally awesome way to explain the online bias!

The Fi promo is so awesome that I WISH I needed another phone!!! My friend got one using the promo, signed up, and discontinued shortly thereafter. Even if you pay for the whole month of Fi, it might be worth it just to see how well the network performs for you.

I just ordered a 5X in carbon after using an iPhone6 for a little over a year.

I had the HTC thunderbolt when it was launched for about 2 days before returning it for the iPhone4 as the battery life on the thunderbolt was horrid(other than that... nice phone at the time). I also had the Moto X gen 1&2 for about a week each(camera woes). I was excited for the MXPE... except the size.. and Lenovo.(Remember Superfish?). I then had a slew of WindowsPhones while working for a company that essentially made me use them.

I've always kept up with android news and listen to the AC podcast in the car. The things that got me back to trying android are: Monthly Security Updates, Nexus phones that will work on VZW, a good deal on the 5X(non-giant phone with stock, sorry 6P...utoobigtho).

I'm glad to be leaving more closed platforms + I know two people that have/like the Nexus 5X

With the last update, the Nexus 5X is a really good phone. Previously, something was ramping the CPU up and causing random lag and making a mess of things.

The camera is the only place that needs a bit more work. It's a great camera, but it's slower to open than it should be sometimes.

I'd recommend it as the best bang for your buck right now in an Android phone.

I just checked my 5X camera against my G4 and Nexus 6 (several times) and they all open within 2 or 3 tenths of a second of each other. Maybe the G4 and N6 cameras are considered slow as well, but I have zero complaints about my 5X and its definitely my favorite of the three.

What sort of battery life are you guys seeing from your 5X? I know battery life is subjective and everyone's mileage varies but I'm just wondering. This phone has outstanding standby battery life due to Doze, but mine isn't great when the screen is on.

I ended up with 4 and half hour SOT yesterday, which was my first full day with my 5x. I'm pretty pleased with that considering my Nexus 5 was struggling to make it to 3 hours SOT.

I've never really pushed it on this phone (I usually see more battery drain when I'm on vacation and away from my normal usage, which is moderate....), but when I pull the phone off the charger fully charged and use it intensively--and steadily--for an hour or so, battery life projection is over 5 hours. This is about the same for the Moto X Pure Edition, so I think it's a pretty decent battery life for two fairly comparable phones of the same generation.
