Netflix WORKS on the Optimus V!!!!

Running the latest Harmonia don't know if stage fright is enabled or not. I actually think it is simply my phone dying. It had been running great since I bought it (day before official release) but about a week ago it started overheating anytime I had a phone call. It didn't matter if it was 1min or 1 hour it would heat up fast and the phone would stay laggy/frozen until a reboot.

Will probably try other roms just to see be sure, but I think it's my specific phone. And yes it happens on all of them.

Almost positive that's stagefright

Did you reboot after changing the Build.prop?

also make sure there are no errors in your edits.

I rebooted after editing build.prop, and after trying out the app. No go so far, I'm using the apk from xda, maybe I should try the one attached to the OP.

In the build.prop for Harmonia everything for stagefright says false, I assume that means it is disabled. going to try different roms this weekend anyway just for fun.

I'll probably just wait until someone also running Harmonia takes the plunge and see if they have the bar too.

If you've already edited the build prop, try downloading directly from the market. I noticed the Netflix app was there after the edit.

I believe the APK is available on XDA.
As for the Build.prop...

MAKE A COPY AND KEEP IT SAFE!!!!!
Edit with root explorer
Change the following...

ro.product.model=VM670
ro.product.name=VirginMobile
ro.product.brand=aosp.thunderc
ro.product.device=thunderc
ro.product.board=thunderc

to

ro.product.model=Nexus One
ro.product.name=google
ro.product.brand=passion
ro.product.device=passion
ro.product.board=mahimahi

a couple spaces down you'll see

ro.product.manufacturer=LGE
change to
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC

save and reboot.

I REPEAT!!!!! KEEP THE ORIGINAL Build.Prop.

I was gunna give this a try but ran into a possible typo.

ro.product.model=VM670
ro.product.brand=VirginMobile
ro.product.name=thunderc
ro.product.device=thunderc
ro.product.board=thunderc

urs has name=VirginMobile as mine is brand=VirginMobile does this mean google and passion need to be swapped? Hoping u might just double check urs.

The order is model, brand, then name
so...
NexusOne, google, passion

fixed in the original post.

I tried again, this time with your corrected build.prop info, and still getting the same results.

I edited the build.prop, adb pushed it to /system (with system remounted), rebooted. Still couldn't download the app from the Market, though it does appear for download, it just won't download. So I tried the app posted at xda. Donwloaded, and installed, rebooted for good measure, and I still cannot stream. See the error message below.

Does anyone on aospCM7 4-27 have this working? If so, which kernel are you running, I'm use the kernel included in the aospCM7 build, wondering if a xionia kernel might do the trick?

Netflix will only allow 6 devices on their page. If you tried different versions of your .prop and couldn't stream then you must go into your Netflix account and deactivate the devices that say Android Device (Obsolete).

Mine's working. Stock kernal.

AospCMmod 4/27 build, edited the build.prop in Root Explorer(kept the original as build.prop.orig) and then rebooted. I am running the stock kernal. Netflix streaming works!

No need to edit your build.prop. Run this script: netflixprop.sh
and then install the netflix app. You'll have no need for the script unless you uninstall the app and you want to reinstall it. When you reboot, your original values will be restored.
Thanks mmarz, this is exactly what I was asking for in the other Netflix thread. Did you write the script or get it from someone else? Just to clarify- needs to run after every boot in order for netflix to work?
EDIT- So what values does the script change? nvm that. Sorry- but the script does not work for me either.

I have ran this an installed but still says device not supported
I have manually edited the prop too but it won't stick.
Anyone have any idea why?

I am using harmonia still as well, and it is not just a green line. Check out trailer park boys' movie - countdown to liquor ... on flesh tones, it is as if there is a red "shift"

After rebooting, I got stuck in a loop. Going to restore from nandroid now. I'll wait till someone hacks the apk a bit before messing with this again.

Because the script calls "setprop" to set the values, but it doesn't work on ro.product.* values. To test this, "adb shell" and then:
Code:
# getprop ro.product.model
VM670
#setprop ro.product.model Blah
#getprop ro.product.model
VM670
#

You need to actually edit build.prop and reboot.
