While I love the new 80% battery charging limit option on my P8P, it sure takes some getting used to.

In the evening, when my battery is showing a much lower percentage than what I have been used to over the past number of years, I liken the experience of using it to having an eighth tank of gas in my vehicle and wondering if I will be able to make it to the next town to fill up or if I will end up on the side of the road, in the middle of nowhere, with an empty tank.

So far, I've always made it to the next town. 😉

Samsung had theirs at 85 but OneUI6(.1?) dropped it to 80. Personally I love it. 80-100 % is the most stressful part for the battery during charging between that and charge cycles only doing 20-80% I more than get a full day and peace of mind my battery will last maybe a 2 or 3 years longer.

The rare occasions I turn it off and go to 100%, I look at my phone and go whaaaa...? It's still at 89% this late in the day? It feels like that 100-80% range lasts longer. Could just be number placebo though.

I still don't have it on my pixel 9 pro XL with December update and Google play system November

I got it with the December update ... Never used this option on previous phones that offer it and don't foresee myself enabling it on my 9XL either. I ... Need ...More ... Power!

I am encountering an issue with the 80% charge limit. I use a wireless charger and mainly charge my phone at night. The phone charges to 100% and the charger indicator light turns off (expected). This also gives me peace of mind that the neither the charger nor phone are attempting to charge. However, I have tried the 80% charge setting twice. The phone stops at 80% but the charging light stays on and the charger/phone get warm. This tells me that while the phone stops charging it isn't communicating with the charger that it is done...or that 80% is the new 100%. I have gone back to standard adaptive charging.

Sorry to hear that. I'm not having a similar issue using a 30W Nano II Anker USB C charging block. Everything appears to be working the way it should. What wireless charger are you using?

My understanding is it only works via usb port for bypass mode. That's why your battery heats up while using a wireless charger.. You are sending a constant trickle charge to the battery. Via usb the phone itself switches from charging to actually supplying the power to run your phone.

You may be right...bypass mode only works with USB...or would wireless also be passing power...and that is why the light never goes off....only in 80% mode.
