New android update doesn't allow encryption of sdcard???

using samsung sm320v (galaxy j3), Iam now unable to encrypt my sd card..as soon as I select encrypt it shows that it's decrypting the sd card...and its not encrypted..Something definitely isn't right about this

Is the SD card new? If it's decrypting, the SD card sounds like is already encrypted

the sd card was decrypted earlier today and now I cannot re-encrypt it

I would prefer to just have a root on this phone..however, I cannot find a single one that works
