New App for Facebook Hi-Res Photo syncing - "Haxsync"

It works fine for myself and many others. Maybe email the dev for support? I can't remember if my pics showed immediately the first time or if it had to process a little.

Here's where I am having a problem. You are suggesting for me to 'Join Contacts,' but there are no other contacts for them to be joined with. I only have one entry in my phone book. HaxSync doesn't pull them in.

Does my problem at least make sense?

Oh, and thanks for taking the time to reply, I do appreciate your efforts!

Edit:

Additionally, maybe a Progress Bar could be added. It would be helpful to let us know the sync is actually occurring?

The only other thing I would try would be to uninstall and reinstall the program and try to set it up again.

I have my set to sync contacts but to only sync with existing contacts. I then set the fuzzy level to as high as possible.

From there it synced with what matches it could find and I then went through and manually joined the contacts which didn't automatically match up.

Good luck.

What I ended up doing is going through my contacts and changing their name to match their facebook names. Once I did the sync and linked them, I went back and changed their name in my contacts back to what it was. Seems to have done fine since. It took a little bit to get the few stragglers, but now it's cleaned up. All-in-all took my a couple hours to get most of my contacts synced.

What I did was open people - menu - contacts to display - custom view - check hax and Google - then you open a contact then menu then join - just choose the matching contact. Hopefully this helps anyone

When you synced a second time did it repopulate ur contact list with the ones already synced?

Some of my contacts doesn't syncs its profile photo! Sometimes it syncs, but don't no why, it disappears when the syncing starts again '-'. Little strange!

worked great for me. Love having all photos in contacts

Re: New App for Facebook Hi-Res Photo syncing

Hey, I'm the dev of this app. Since xda's mods closed my thread for not having 100+ posts, I will try to answer your questions here.

tidusmccoy1515: That problem was most likely caused by one of your friends having a contact picture larger than 1mb, which broke my sync function. Have you tried version 1.1.1? Does that fix things for you?

Rickgsx: There is no "App" for you to find, you have a new sync-provider in Android System Settings=> Accounts and sync.

Does anyone have feedback/feature suggestions for me?
Love the app! Just one question, it synced 99% of my contacts but there are a few that are missing. Does that have to do with a setting that some of my Facebook friends my have enable that could be blocking the app from downloading their pic and contact info?

Great app! Just one question, it synced about 98% of my Facebook friends to my existing Google contacts but there are still a few that it did not sync. I've tried manually syncing and enabling the Very Strong setting of the Fuzziness but still can't find them. Is this do to a setting my Facebook friends my have enable that won't allow the app to bring over their pic and contact info?

When one of my friends update their picture on facebook, my phone still shows their older picture. Tried going to Accounts and Sync and clicked on Sync Now for HaxSync. But, still no go.

Is there a solution?

I downloaded the app - went to settings>sync< add account - clicked on HaxSync, clicked "authorize HaxSync: - after about 5 seconds, my screen goes to black. It does not give a verification screen. When I try to click on the "home" button at the bottom of the screen, it acts very sluggish, and after tapping it a couple of times it will go to the home screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with the same results.

Any help?

edit:
Uninstalled this App and Facebook app - reinstalled Facebook then HaxSync, cleared up problem.

rtandon87: Can you send me a log of your syncing process? (see my previous posts for instructions)

LeCoq77: Some people don't allow 3rd-party apps access to their data, that might be why a few contacts are missing.

Are the photos that sync from FB actual HD quality or are they about the same quality as FriendCaster? Would rather use this than manually convert photos but if they are still somewhat blurry will keep doing it my way.

I got Haxsync to sync on Galaxy Nexus but it does not show hi-res pic.

I'm not talking about thumbnail photos on the right when you are in "People". I'm talking about when you go into your individual contact and it shows photo awfully stretching out.

I wonder if it is because I also have Friendcaster sync as well? Or is there something I have to mess with in Haxsync preference to get the photo hi-res?

Anybody knows a fix to this? Thanks.

mistamista2000: the pictures are currently synced in 256x256, the highest resolution android 4.0 allows. Most other apps use 96x96, which was the previous max.

lennyd44: Friendcaster could have a higher priority than HaxSync for contact images, try Menu -> Edit on a contact in the People-App, it should show the individual sub-contacts (i.e. friendcaster, haxsync, google, w/e). Go to the HaxSync contact, touch its picture and select "use this photo"

Re: New App for Facebook Hi-Res Photo syncing

any way to sync the birthdays and have them post as a notification? Similar to recieving a new text for example?

You're right. It looks like Friendcaster takes precedence over Haxsync. So I uninstalled then reinstalled Friendcaster but do not add its account for syncing. Problem solved. Thanks.
