i have an issue using haxsync, when i choose to sync only to existing contacts, it does so with the ones it matches. but then i cannot choose to match other contacts which it did not sync. if i then choose to sync all contacts, it does so, but i cannot choose to only view google contacts in the people app anymor. the haxsync contacts all show, not matter what i do. i have chosen only google contacts to show in the settings.
Does this also sync phone numbers from facebook?
If not, then can this feature please be added?
I don't have Facebook installed on my phone, and don't want it installed. All I want is for my Google contact photos to not be pixelated. Will this app do that?
Hey guys,
sorry for the late response, I just went through exam hell at university.
Version 1.6 should be live soon, its major new feature is manually selecting additional contacts to sync.
Natolx: the 256x256 restriction is imposed by the Android-API, it's not possible to have a contact image larger than that. I don't know why Google made that decision (if I had to guess I'd say performance reasons), but as soon as they change that, HaxSync will update to the new max
Hasimir: the page you're looking for is System Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> HaxSync -> Sync Preferences
HaxSync doesn't upload the images to Google Contacts, as that would scale them down to 96x96px and kind of defeat the purpose.
ccmbr002: Not all people allow 3rd-party-apps to access their Galleries. HaxSync needs to access them in order to download the high-res image, if it can't do that, it'll fall back to the lower-res-image which is available without gallery access.
Large photos
Android now supports high resolution photos for contacts. Now, when you push a photo into a contact record, the system processes it into both a 96x96 thumbnail (as it has previously) and a 256x256 "display photo" that's stored in a new file-based photo store (the exact dimensions that the system chooses may vary in the future). You can add a large photo to a contact by putting a large photo in the usual PHOTO column of a data row, which the system will then process into the appropriate thumbnail and display photo records.
Does this app import the phone numbers from facebook as well for those who have them?
