Hi all, I'll be joining your ranks as an Epic owner in a month or so. Has anybody typed up a quick setup guide that gives a summary of the tweaks and setting changes that can benefit all users of the phone? I feel this may help new Epic owners (and in my case, a first time Android user) make the most common tweaks to their phone that experienced users have tested and have proven benefits.

If not, who wants to volunteer? Maybe a well-written guide could be posted and made as a sticky.

Welcome to the Android family 521. My best advice would be to lock yourself in the basement for the next month and start reading this forum...your routine would look something like this: read, read, read, read, read, read, drink beer, read, read, read, read, read, read, read, drink beer, read....repeat.

Now with that said....check out a few of the stickies. I'd hit up the Epic Photography thread as this phone does have a rather nice camera and there are some cool tricks in that thread as well as advice for market downloads. I'd also hit up the sticky that discusses Post Your Homescreens as you'll get a good idea of what other people are doing with their Epics and some of the apps that are available.

Also read on ways to increase battery life.

On day 31 you'll crack open that box from Sprint and within an hour have your phone runnin' just the way you want.

late,
Coz

That would require quite a few calories to be burned but would make a great sticky. But you do have a whole month, plenty of time to read through the last 23 days of threads ;)

I've already done quite a bit of reading and I certainly won't stop now. I thought maybe something like this already existed: a guide to the MUST DO tweaks the first time you turn on the phone. Maybe I'll type it up myself after I gather all my info. I'll let you know if I decide to take up this task and make any progress.

In all honesty, though, even if there already WAS a guide, I certainly wouldn't suggest anybody follow it blindly. It's always best to learn about the device on your own rather than taking somebody else's word for it.
