New Facebook + Evo + Push = fail?

Notifications not working for me either. I also cannot add this as an account to sync. FB for HTC Sense is added... but that's it. I tried uninstalling and re-installing... no dice. :(

I like the FB app a lot... but it's so inconsistent when it comes to functionality. Boo.

Yeah. I'm using EVO with the stock Sprint 2.2 ROM and no push notifications. I've actually been very dissapointed in them. Yes, it is 'just' Facebook, but at the same time - this is something really simple it would seem. I can play Wordfeud and pushnotifications for that always tell me when it's my turn. Yet...Facebook can't get it right? Really? Shame.

this happened to me too,my push notifications were not working on the Evo..so i went to the market and uninstalled the most recent Facebook update than re installed it and it works perfect for me now

Yup its working for me but they still have bugs.. There are no notification sounds for chat.. SMH how did they forget that.. Back to go chat I go..

I have never had FB notifications work on my Evo. I just assumed the Android version does not do this. the Pre version did, and I do kind of miss it.

I cannot find any settings in the Android FB program that even allow notifications.

Well, I checked the HTC Sense box under settings on the facebook site and the push notifications seem to be working. I just wish that facebook for android had the same type of notification settings that facebook for blackberry has. The blackberry one will notify you of almost anything!

i haven't gotten my evo yet...still using my BB curve...but i can tell you that i don't get notifications all the time either thru the BB facebook app...and what's more, even when i'm logged into facebook on my computer i don't get notifications all the time either...there's often a huge delay. i'll get the email telling me so-and-so has posted to my wall, but it won't be in the notification list...or if it is in the notification list on facebook, i'll click on it to go to that particular new post and nothing will happen or it'll take me to my wall and there is no new post to show. ??? so don't chalk it up to JUST an evo (or any other cell phone) problem. just facebook in general probably having issues as usual.

I can answer this. I was a former BB owner and noticed this. What email do you have associated with your Facebook and BB account. I noticed that email servers like yahoo and hotmail/live and such took much long to push emails to the BB then other such as gmail.

When I first got my BB I used hotmail as my email for Facebook. I had to change that to my gmail because of this very issue. I also then had a problem with multiple email accounts. The more my BB recieved emails from hotmail and gmail and the longer I had my BB the worse it got. I eventually dumped all my other email accounts and went to gmail. Everything was great and then it started happening again.

That BB finally crapped and I had to get it replaced. Got the new one and things went back to great again. Then it started the same cycle all over again. Then that new BB messed up 3 times. Every time it had to be master reset and the RIM software reloaded. Each time they reloaded it things would be snappy fast then slow again. I eventually came to my upgrade which got me my Evo.

In closing BB is the closet and best thing to push notification. It is actually RIM software failing. I fought with that dang phone and I am still fighting with my wife's (for another 4 months) BB.

I hope this explains it better. I been through I think just about everything a Blackberry can experience and I wouldn't recommend those things to anyone.

When I mentioned being logged into FB on my computer and not getting notifications, I didn't mean on my phone...I meant right there on my FB screen on my computer. So that's why I figure it's sometimes an issue with FB itself. I know bberry has its issues from time to time with push, but FB has its issues with notifications across several platforms whether using your phone, desktop or laptop.

Oh and you had me LOLing @ that last line! I hear ya! But I still love my BB!!! I'm just ready for something else...Blackberry seems so behind the times now...I feel like they need to make some major upgrades...I wonder if OS6 will be that change.

Yeah I agree. Notifications on FB itself don't work right half the time either. I tell ya though. When it came down to getting my notifications that BB app was the best thing though. It was about the only thing on that phone worth it. The rest of the time it was the constant running back and forth to the Sprint store to either get it fixed or replaced.

I'm happy with the Evo other then here lately either I am having a problem I can't find or this last OTA update screwed the pooch. It's like a never ending circle jerk of cables to keep the dang thing charged.
