Im not sure if it works for any other phone, but I'm on the nexus 4 and slimbean build 5 is working, build 6 however doesn't, if your on a nexus 4 the slimbean build 5 trick should work. If this helps check the video out to see what I flashed on my nexus 4

The first few seconds of the recording are REALLY HIGH QUIALITY, but after like 5 Kore seconds, the recording gets fuzzy!?? Any idea?

The application records a black screen on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Jelly Bean 4.0.4. I have rooted the device and disabled hw overlays and forced gpu rendering and it is still recording 100% black screen. Can anyone offer a solution to this problem. Thanks

I think all galaxy tab 2 devices have this problem, and there is nothing we can do about it unless the developer comes back with a fix. I have recently found an alternative that does work on the tab 2 and on Tegra devices, but it is a bit laggy. It is called SCR Screen Recorder.

I can't make it work...
my gti-9300 is rooted (verified with root checker) but i can't play the videos that i record with screencast. The files that are created like 50 bytes. Any idea what i'm doing wrong?

It is not a tegra device, and I have tried some of the other tips listed in this thread (forced gpu rendering, rebooted, disabled hw overlays) with no luck. The end result is a video file with a seemingly valid filesize (size gets bigger the longer the video is) but cannot be played by mobo/mx etc. Also displays a length of 00:00:00

Doesn't work on mine either. It just throws out a bunch of errors in the log when I try to record anything.

Can anyone tell me why galaxy note 2, will not work? I've tried cyanogen, slimbean, jellybam ROMs all with no luck. But my s2 with slimbean works fine. I changed ROMs today just for this and still nothing. I've changed the developer options...I'm running out of ideas. Can't believe such a popular phone is a no go with this.

What version of Android are you using? Levi, Screencast Video recorder won't even start using Android 4.3. So if that is the version you are using, forget it. I have tried everything and no go. So I switched to SCR Screen Recorder Pro. Works on all versions of Android so far. I love it.

Screencast Video Recorder only works on Android 4.1.2. I have another more long winded post several posts back if you would like to read it. It's about everything I tried. Eventually I had to roll back to Android 4.1.2 in order to use Screencasts app. It sucked because I love flashing newer roms.

This issue was exactly the same on both my S3 and my Note 2 for it. Would only work on 4.1.2 roms.

After much experimenting I found a screen recorder that does work with all Android versions and both my Note 2 and S3. I am currently using the one at the link below.

Thank you for your response but I'm confused because screencast works perfectly on my s2 running 4.3 slimbean but not the note 2 running the same version. I ended up getting scr and it works but it still doesn't answer why screencast works on years old galaxy s2 and not note 2 with 4.3

Dunno. I can't answer that. All I know is Screencast won't work with my Note 2 if using 4.2.1, 4.2.2 or 4.3. It will if running 4.1.2 tho. Same issue with my S3. I can't explain why the S2 would tho, but I am sure it's hardware related.
