New Firmware Pushed This Morning

lmao, I'm afraid too... Don't wana have to reroot and customize everything again.

Nothing to be afraid of, only if you try and install the official released update to your rooted device, which will more than likely brick your phone.

Get MyBackup Pro, or Titianium backup Pro I use both. MyBackup for home screens, texts, bookmarks, etc and Titanium for my apps and their data. Just make sure you don't backup and restore any system data to the new rom.

Follow this to get the official update/rom for your rooted device: [ruu][rooted][MR1 aka OTA] CONFIRM Build Number: 1.13.605.7 Baseband: 1.16.00.0402w_1 - xda-developers

Better yet, flash Bamf 1.6.3 instead to get the new update, better battery life and an overall performance increase ;)

Everytime I check for an update it keeps telling me Service Unavailable: Check for Service Update Under Settings when service is available

Had to Check New twice in Los Angeles (on 3G; didn’t try on 4G) and now downloading. My GPS has always been great (found me inside a 26 story building just now), so I'm hesitant to install the upgrade, but I'm going for it.

Update: tried to be clever and switch over to 4G and the download failed and I had to go back to 3G to get it to catch and download again.

Update 2: Battery is 38.5 degrees Celsius at 90%+ downloaded. Yikes.

I checked the Verizon site and it says the OTA will be available 5/13. Downloading it now. I was able to get it via the "check for updates". NY here.

update distribution has nothing to do with what area or region you are in , this always happens on all updates lol

Just installed another new sim, which of course, did not solve the data connection problem.
Still getting the SERVICE UNAVAILABLE message, so I called Verizon.
They told me there is "a software update releasing TOMORROW".
What is going on here? I have an unstable data connection and can't get the update.
Do I wait untill tomorrow and see what happens? Insist they send a new device?
Or forget LTE for now and get the DINC2?

You're worried about that? Hottest my phone got was 129.7*F.

For those who can't download, you can try to put it in 3g rev a

I'm in Phoenix and was getting the error message in 3g/4g. WiFi on, WiFi off.

http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...unavailable-message-my-software-update-2.html (edit, I can't link correctly for some reason - it's the "Error Service Unavailable" thread) it was mentioned that if you set the phone to CDMA only/1x, the update will go through. The update came through on the first time for me after doing this after trying everything else for about 50 minutes.

Note: I started downloading on 1x at about 2:44pm my time. It is approximately 3:20pm and it just finished. I.e. I spent more time trying to DL it on 3g/4g than it took to DL it on 1x.

HTH

Downloaded and installed! GPS still seems to be taking its own sweet time (though the city is right!) but the switch from screen to screen when opening apps, etc is much faster. When I click on settings it pops right up! Havent tried the video yet.

For those of you getting the "no service" message when checking for the OTA update, here is what I did :

1. Download the LTE OnOff application from the app store.
2. Launch LTE OnOff app and set the mode to "CDMA only". This will put the phone in 1x. Make a note of the default selection.
3. Check for updates now. You should be able to download the update.
4. After download completes, go back to the LTE OnOff app and put back to original cdma/LTE selection.
5. Once your back to 3G or 4G, check for updates and you should see the option to install the update!

Do this at your own risk, but it worked for me. Enjoy!

That didn't do anything for me so I'll just wait for the update to show up for me later on. However, there is nothing risky about doing the method you mentioned as LTE onOff is nothing more than a shortcut to the Thunderbolts hidden menu.
