New G Nexus owners....Happy?

Did you keep it or return?

Well I got my 3rd galaxy nexus and its leaps and bounds better then the others. So for now yeah Im keeping it. Besides the only phone IMHO that could even come close to this is the evo lte and its not out yet retail. So when the evo is available I will check it out and see if its worth trading the gnexus for it. But for now its freakin awesome!!!!!

Really?! Wow. What is better with the new one? I need good radio signals.

The Good and EVO review of the EVO LTE sounds pretty good. It sounds like Friday is go time for me.

Yeah as soon as I see a reputable battery review and play with the new evo Ill make my final decision. It seems I have come across another con of the evo and that is non stock android. Im in love with stock ICS on both my transformer and gnexus and while I love sense, I just think themes like sense and touchwiz are no longer needed. But that is far from even a concern.

Sprint.com still says they are out and yesterday they didnt have a demo so Im hoping very soon they do and Ill mess around with it and decide which phone is going to be mine for the next 2 years.

Just got my sprint galaxy nexus yesterday :) Kinda weird though, i didnt realize they were in such short supply (at least in the milwaukee WI area) supposedly i got the last nexus in a 30 mile radius. Anyhow, after a month of reading about the nexus issues, signal drops, weak radios, screen spots, short battery life, etc.. I think i got a good one :) So far, and i realize one day doesn't mean a whole lot, but i'm getting much better signal strength regarding wifi and 3g data, compared to my EVO 4g. Also, GPS has worked great with very fast satellite lock on's. Battery life had me pleasantly surprised also. After one full day, i got 20 hours on the battery with 3.5 hours screen on time. im happy with that. i have noticed though, that the nexus does get a little warmer than my OG EVO.
Overall, im very happy i finally just went out and got the nexus. I still have plenty to mess around with (camera, speaker quality, etc) but as of now, no regrets passing on the EVO LTE. Not that it was available anyway :)

Nice. Hope you continue to have good luck with it. I thought the battery life was great during my 10 days with it. Loved the stock ICS, except that I missed the arrow keys on the HTC keyboard that I was used to for quick editing long emails. I also wished the SMS text window was larger/taller like it is in Sense. Makes for quicker edits and copy/paste when needed. HandCent is a good option for SMS, I think.

I loved the all black no logos front look of GNex and maybe it will seem a little more rare since I'm sure the EVO LTE will sell like hot cakes when Sprint finally announces a full release date.

I like your comment "I got a good one." That's pretty funny actually. Like fishing for a good phone. :)

So what's your impression of the early EVO LTE reviews? Overall, I think it looks pretty positive.

Do you think it's worth it to go for the EVO LTE over the GNex simply for the better radio performance? I'm like you in that stock ICS is all I need/want and I would end up ditching most of the Sense widgets, giant clock, giant calendar widget, giant contacts widgets, etc, etc. In the end, I'd pare it down to basically what stock ICS presents at first glance.

Frequent travel use, though, has me more interested in the HTC radios for 3G/gps than the Sammy.

Well reviews aside my brother in law got his EVO LTE and I messed with it this past sunday and Im VERY impressed.

As for my gnexus well its the 3rd strike sadly. :'( The radios are back to their terrible performance and little or no signal in my common areas and now I started to notice (after my wife pointed it out) that the screen is a bit grainy and there is alot of ghosting. I guess I was happy to get a working gnexus, for however short a time it was, and overlooked these issues. So between the radio performance, wifi distance (performance is great though), and the screen issues Im going to have to give up on the phone. 3 phones in 9 days is too much of a bad omen, and that doesnt count the phone they first tried at the store that they had to swap out before I left the store on day one.

Im hoping I can get credited my evo shift sell back and they renew my upgrade and Ill just go back to the backup dumb phone i have until the evo comes to retail.

That's too bad. I agree that it would have been nice to keep it, but the same issues make it a no go. It just makes no sense that the signal can be that poor for so many people on a phone that Google expects high use developer-types to relay on - as well as people like us that (I'm assuming on your part) don't fall into the developer label, but want their best cutting edge pure Google device. They missed an opportunity with a lot of people on this one.

I'm less excited about the EVO LTE for some reason, but if they ever make it available, I'll probably get one soon. If you explain what you've gone through to get the Nexus, they should easily reset your renewal just like they did for me. No problem and they were nice about what struggles I had with the Nexus.

Im a developer, just not an android developer. As for excitement for the evo LTE, its really only due to the fact that I NEED ICS now after the nexus it seems and that I can only return it until the 3rd. If it was a 30 day satisfaction guarantee Id be a little less wired about the release of the evo LTE. But at this point Ill be bringing my old lotus up with me just in case they can restore my upgrade and credit me back the sold back evo shift. Otherwise Ill be looking around the store for a phone to settle on...:'(

I was thinking of getting the Galaxy Nexus but it seems like this phone has alot of issues.

Its a great phone if you get one that has a good radio. The ghosting was only on 1/3 phones. If I got reliable radio performance (even the slightly slower then my old evo shift) I wouldnt be thinking about another phone.

Hunting around the store looking for an alternative phone can be a struggle...have you tried those fancy phones from Canada with the hard keyboards? LOL

Actually, I've been impressed with the EVO Design on our other line. Just a thought.

What exactly is ''ghosting''? Is that like a faded image in the background or something?

Not sure about what they have currently, but with the second clearing of customs Im hoping in the next day or so going to sprint and turning the phone in for good and walking with an LTE. If not Ill browse again and see whats offered...

An example is Ill browse a web page and hit the home button and still see traces of the webpage for a second or two kinda like old CRT monitors with burned in images. Its hard to see most times and only lasts a second or so but still not something you wanna see on your screen.

I think I will get an EVO LTE this weekend, but this is an interesting read. Take a look before you take back the nexus. Just something to consider...

Yeah I'm hoping for Friday. But as for the thread it was a good read, it doesn't apply to me. I for under this category:

First, just to be clear. If you have issues like dropped signal, static during calls, dropped calls or lots of time without a signal, this is not in reference to that. If you have those problems, your device is defective and I would seek out filing a warranty claim with Verizon for it. You unfortunately got the "luck of the draw" and pulled a lemon. People have reported those issues and swapping out for a new Nexus has helped them.

I'm in the lots of time without signal and dropping signal group. Not to mention the ghosting. I don't care if my bars are low as long as if its showing me a bar I should be able to call, text, or use data. But a lot of my time is spent with nothing at all.

Sad as I kept getting lemons when its such a great phone. But I'm at the end of my satisfaction guarantee and since I have pulled nothing but lemons I'm not satisfied. Does that mean I should condemn the phone? No, but I'm definitely not going to keep going back to sprint every couple if days because I'm unlucky just to keep a phone. Its a shame cause I definitely wanted this phone over the evo lte.

Moral of the story: those interested should not shy away due to my luck, its a great phone I'm just an unlucky guy.

Maybe you're a great guy and it's an unlucky phone! Haha!

Wow thats a major problem in my book. I really want to get this phone but I don't think all the headaches caused by this device is worth it. Chances are I may get a good one but I have a feeling I might get a lemon lol. It's a damn shame too. I really wanted to try something different. I love the look of stock ICS and this is one of the best looking devices I've seen. Oh well, I'll just wait for the next Nexus and hopefully that phone/phones will NOT have all these issues. Until then, I'm looking to get the EVO LTE. It has better specs anyway and the screen is awesome. Looks like I'll stick to HTC again.

I just wanted to state Im not bashing the phone in anyway shape or form. Its a great phone and despite being plastic feels solid and well built. The vanilla ICS is AMAZING and the hardware is great, in fact I dont see any reason why you would need faster hardware then what the Gnexus has but hey people like to brag:p. The screen isnt as good as Im used to with samsung but really only was the 3rd (tech 4th) Gnexus to have to ghosting and bad grainy-ness. But the previous screens weren't bad. Honestly if I didnt get a defective units I would be singing more praise then sorrow. I had my finger on the trigger for an extended battery and kickstand case from seidio but Im glad I didnt.

The ultimate question is: Should you get this phone? Yes, unless youre on the fence about another phone. I was on the fence about this and the EVO lte but leaned alot more towards the gnexus due to the battery expandability. I wanted to wait until both were out and I could compare and contrast but they over shot the date by alot...or should I say still over shooting the date and my old phone was useable so I was stuck. Do I regret my time with the phone? Not one bit for the most part. Sure all those days at the gym with no pandora and the ability to stay in contact with my wife and child were bad, but when the phone worked it was a dream to use.

Totally agree with these comments. I thought the hardware was just fine and began liking it more and more each day. The software I loved since it is so streamlined and plenty fast. The call quality - when I could get service - was stellar. The screen looked great to me and I would have liked to have seen what I could have done with it over time to customize it further. But, I just wasn't getting service or Wifi capability where I needed and expected it.
