New G Nexus owners....Happy?

Well the past couple of days the phone has been nothing but great. Even the radios work well. Granted the 3g speeds are still noticeably slower then all of my older phones, it works. Im thinking the phone heard I was going to return it for good and started to step up its game.:p Either way Im starting to think I might keep it being as I dont think I can live without ICS and as it stands the EVO LTE is looking less and less likely to be available withing the next couple of weeks let alone by saturday...

Edit: well seems to be alright. Got great battery life for a semi heavy use and just did a speed test with 3 bars on 3g in my office.

I like this post.

The EVO 4G LTE and One X are a bit scary; I crushed on the One X hard, but hearing as people love it or absolutely detest it, well, I have my GN so i'm fine with that type of phone lol.

Yeah Im thinking Im starting to love the phone again. Seems to be a love hate relationship. I edited my above post with screen shots of my amazing battery life and the 3g speeds arent terrible, but still slower then previous phones. I have today and tomorrow to finalize my decision so lots of thinking to do.

If you keep it, you should try flashing a custom rom. The stuff devs are doing for this device are absolutely outstanding.

(Not saying you need to or anything, but if you really want to have serious serious love for this phone, it's advisable ;)).

I have been thinking about it, but honestly the stock ICS layout and use is amazing. One thing from the evo I wish the standard keyboard had was arrows to navigate through text instead of hunting with pecks. Also visual voicemail is a another. But so far it hasnt been that much of an issue.

Have you installed the Swiftkey 3 beta? It's epic for this device. Prediction much, much better IMHO.

Ill check out siwftkey but for now Im trying to look for a voicemail application like I had on my evo. I dont like having to call for voicemail, rather I like having a list of voicmails I can press and listen or press and delete.

Google voice solved one of them. I am currently trying out swiftkey and Im not sure I like it. But the arrows are VERY helpful.

Agree. The arrows on the HTC keyboards and Swiftkey are super helpful in quickly editing long emails or texts. The cursor drag function is ICS isn't always easy to get right where you need it quickly in a pinch - such as that last email before the captain gives the warning to shut 'er down on the runway!

I think thats a time where calling is the best scenario :p

I've had my nexus for just over two weeks now and aside from the signal issues its been a great phone. I'm on stock ics and have been getting acceptable battery life after a couple tweaks.

Inside the house is where I get problems because the signal seems to disappear completely and I don't even receive calls then notifications pop up a couple hours later with missed call / voicemail. Verizon also had this issue so I'm thinking one of those in-house signal boosters might help. I've got wifi so net isn't a problem but making/receiving calls is a big deal for me :S.

This is the thing that bothers me too. Like Sphinxx, I do love the day to day use of stock ICS on GNex and prefer it over what it looks like EVO LTE will be - I also looked at the dummy at BB today.
But if you can't make calls or pick up WiFi at home with a GNex, that seems hard to overcome and keep it.

I've had mine for about 2 days, and man this gets some good standby time! way better than any other android phone I've had in the past. I get pretty good signal everywhere, except for work which is normal, since no carriers get signal there except verizon (because there is a signal strength thingy in here).

I too love stock ICS, but would like to get a mod just to add battery percentage to the status bar.

Picking up my EVO LTE tomorrow morning, so it will be interesting to see how it compares to the 10 days I spent with GNex.
I know the GNex would not have done well during the travel I had today using a lot of GPS and low 3G signals that were available inside buildings.

It's convinced me that hardware isn't everything, and that software can really make a difference.

It's also probably made it so that I won't buy another Android device that isn't a Nexus (or made by Google... Motorola, what you got?).

Hmm...so far, EVO LTE is pretty nice and basically a bigger faster version of my EVO 4G.
Doesn't seem like much of a change like the GNex was with ICS, but so far so good as far as being bigger and faster. Nice call quality and signals are good same as EVO 4G. Certainly speedy camera like the GNex had. Very thin and screen is sweet.

GS3??

Yeah I'm loving my EVO lte too. But I must admit I miss my gnexus, but with my luck with lack of a consistent phone made the choice to switch relatively easy. Did a speed test on my gnexus and an EVO side by side with the same signal and the EVO got 3 times the download and upload, and I was actually able to do a 3g speedtest at home as well as make calls.

The down side is the EVO is a lot harder to hold as its quite slippery and while its a great phone I still miss my gnexus:(

I do agree that it is slippery. I thought that about GNex too!
Here is my take from another post after enough use and some travel with the new EVO:

Coming from EVO 4G, I think it's easy to say that EVO LTE in daily use feels like an EVO 4G but everything is noticeably faster and snappier in every way. Screen is a major upgrade, camera does much more and faster, signal strength remains just as good, google maps seems more robust, call quality is excellent, it looks and feels very modern in design, super thin, light in the pocket, and easily gets a full day or more battery life.
The one thing that is a let down for me is that the GNex felt like something new and different. The EVO LTE feels new and fast, but familiar. Just saying if you are looking for a real change. But the signal weakness of the GNex was a total dealbreaker for me.
EVO LTE is a very good and capable modern device that gets the job done with ease and without worry.
I really must keep it and give up thinking that the GNex could have be acceptable for my heavy business and travel use. New EVO is awfully nice.

On WiFi the gnexus was nothing short of amazing. It's just the times between WiFi hotspots that made the phone less desireable. But work and home were great other then the fact that I couldn't receive or send texts and calls at home on the gnexus.
