I saw this in the Livestream of the Note 8, and it seems to hint at a new Gear S device that will be released on August 30th.

I doubt released, but it will be announced. Samsung is going to announce a few new products at the IFA event in Berlin on the 30th.

Yes, they seem to be all-in on the smartwatch market. I have my Gear S2 that works with Verizon. I'll probably keep it until the Gear S5 or whatever.
