New Gingerbread keyboard! Update 12-12-10 [theme blue]

please excuse my stupidity, i installed this from the root of my sd card but i still only see the stock keyboard and a long press in a text field, in say messages, does not do anything.

could someone kindly guide me through this install?

Did you flash through recovery? If so, all you should have to do is long press until text input option comes up, then select android keyboard.

thats exactly what i did i put the .zip file on my sd card.

powerdown. hold volume down plus power go into recovery

then installed from sd card

it comepletely ruined my phone. wasnt syncing anything anymore i couldnt get any web pages to load... weird

Are you sure you hit the Gingerbread keyboard file, and not something else.

it all depends on what each user likes, personally I don't like swype but some users love it. I would use the Gingerbread one all the time if it auto corrected miss spelled words.

I have downloaded this file onto my optimus s in recovery mode it flashed fine but when I long press it I get an unexpected error has stopped the error says something about the latin.ime and I downloaded the file that was posted has anyone else have this probblem or might know how to fix this thanks in advance

this keyboard might not work for everyone and every rom!!!!!!

Don't forget that you have to be rooted to install this! I like it, except the long-press on the emoticon button doesn't keep the list of other emoticons up unless you keep holding it down.

I am confused as to why I dont have the emoticon button after installing this.
Everything else on the keyboard works great. Although I wish I had a send button for text messages and e-mails on the keyboard.

Edit:
I found that you can turn off the settings button on the keyboard and it makes the spacebar longer. Also if you turn off the voice button it replaces it with a comma

Ya I figured that me and another poster where trying to figure out if it would and I have found 2 different files and one is a flat out error vill and the one here downloads perfect and when I hold and press down input method and pic android keyboard it gives me the error not found latin.ime package or file but its like you know it works but when you wanna use it it dont wanna work lol

I'm running Virtuious 3.1 - so I don't know about DesireZ. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help danny.

anyone know if this contains the Korean keyboard as well? i saw a list of 57 languages that were integrated into the gingerbread keyboard. however, the ported version i got form another place seems to be missing a decent amount of those languages. me being korean, the korean keyboard would be useful.

Does anybody notice that double-tapping space doesn't make a period happen? Or is it just me?

Is there some hidden setting to turn it on?

I haven't found that option either hopefully when GB is released they include it.
