New GMail App killed my fone?

Froyo update worked fine for all of yesterday but today when I got up the phone was alternatively very slow or frozen.

After an hour on the phone with tech support I remembered I also updated Gmail yesterday. So I just back out the GMAIL updates from application manager and DROID X seems to working fine again.

A new DROIDX is on the way from Vz, but it appears backing out the GMAIL update worked....

I was also having problems after installing the updated Gmail app (2.3) from the Market. The data sync icon was constantly in the notification bar, and the phone would lock up without even going into Gmail. Trying to open Gmail was a sure way to freeze the phone. Rebooting would help briefly, but the processor would get bound up again. I'm guessing Google didn't test the update with Droid X running 2.2 Froyo.

I backed out the Gmail updates as well, and all is back to normal now.
