New HTC 10 Having Problems with Laser Autofocus

I have 1.30 installed and I still experience camera autofocus problems and poor photo quality in dimly lit places.I also have Galaxy s6 and can say that its camera is MUCH MORE consistent and much better overall
Well I don't have that problem any more because my laser is always clean

By manual focus that's what I meant, sorry. Without tapping to focus, and having the phone look into a large distance with nothing else in front of it, do you get a blurry image (especially in a dimly lit room).

YES. I already mentioned this but the HTC 10 on STOCK Software is NOT supposed to do this.

RETURN IT. It's a defective Autofocus module.

It should focus in millisecs wherever you move the camera to be pointing at. My second exchanged HTC 10 does NOT do this and focuses VERY fast, only perhaps slightly behind the the S7Edge I have. My first camera stayed BLURRY when focusing anywhere except like a few inches in front of the module. Almost like the focal distance was stuck.

By the looks of the thread, a huge batch of them went out defective.

Thanks for this.I'm going to return my unit then.I get very blurry photos and auto focus works really poor even after the latest update. And I can forget about videos in dimly lit conditions as the camera fails to autofocus very often

I am expecting my HTC 10 on Tuesday. Is the camera software update available in the US yet? I am leaving for Disney World with the family this Friday and don't want to take an underperforming camera with me.

The update is available. It was one of the first things to download during setup. I haven't taken many shots with it, but so far the camera is working very nicely. I'll be getting lots of photos this week at Epcot. Hope you and the family have a great time!

Thanks for the info. EPCOT is one of my favorite places. Enjoy your time there as well!

Autofocus, and I just tapped to focus. I was even able to tap and focus on the trees in the far background but it made almost everything else look out of focus (save for the far background) so I didn't bother to post it.
I haven't tried the manual focus yet.

That's what it should do with f1.8

It focuses on it's own, unless it's a dim room, then I tap. Honestly, I don't recommend not focusing when you shoot. It's a bad idea as you're lowering your chances of a sharp pic, no matter what phone you're using.

Yes, indeed. I didn't post it because no one would have seen the far background and would think it was just an entirely blurry pic.

Aw man that would suck hard. I think I'll wait for the 1.3 update in the US, see if it fixes it.

If your phone is otherwise good, I would say that^ is a smart idea. Chances are that it's normal (esp since you mentioned not using tap focus and it's in dark rooms) and if you jump the gun you could end up exchanging it for one with a real issue.

How is your new device now?
I have the same issue of being unable to focus distant objects. Continuous blurring.

I have travelled to a different country after getting the device...shoot.
Do you still recommend replacement or can it be fixed with the 1.5 software update...pls help..

I did a few things that I think fixed the issue for me:
1. Micro fiber scrub the laser autofocus and lens like crazy
2. Use some rubbing alcohol to clean the laser autofocus a bit more
3. The 1.5 update

After that I don't think I have had the blurring issue.

I haven't had a problem but was there something on the lens and laser autofocus that you could see?

Is this the Verizon device or the unlocked?

I am using the Verizon model and haven't had the issue occur yet....

My htc 10 doesn't autofocus and won't focus until you tap screen very frustrating and slow.
Called HTC and they told me this is how it works. Very poor design, hopefully they will change it
